Would you buy house number 13?

My parents bought a number 13 house. Within a year they'd split up, the dog had died. We were burgled 3 times, we all caught every childhood disease going (the siblings that is). The car got stolen. My mum then fell in love with a door to door salesman who called at our door one day, he moved in shortly after, turned out he was a conman and he ran off with all her savings..................
oh wait, actually, it was number 11 come to think of it;)MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0 -
In my street the house which "should" be number 13 is 15.
I'd have no qualms about buying a "number 13" house.
"So if you add a name to a house it would be something like "13, Rose Cottage......."
But, although 13 would be OK for me, I'd feel very uncomfortable to live in "Rose Cottage".
No problem - you could remove the name - but you can't remove the number 13 - which some people associate with bad luck.....0 -

You can add a name to your property, but you have to (by law) keep the number in the address. The Post Office insist upon it, as does the Land Registry and council......you have to keep a number displayed for the benefits of the police, fire brigade etc.
So if you add a name to a house it would be something like "13, Rose Cottage......."
Check on the LR website and it will explain it better than I can.:D
But do you have to display the number in base-10 numeric form? XIIV looks much classier. (incorrect Roman numeral formation, but lots of people wouldn't know)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

The name "Rose Cottage" would taint it for me.
It's the name, not the number, that I have a problem with.0 -

No you couldn't do that - and it looks ridiculous anyway!:DAnd even a little Hyacinth Bouquet! :rotfl: Not to mention condascending - do you really think people don't understand Roman numerals??
X11V would be viewed as a name, anyway.........you still have to display the proper number. A property isn't a clock....0 -

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -

An exact replica of the one in Sandringham House!A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

It would befit a huge country pile such as Sandringham (and would have been named/numbered centuries ago when Roman numerals were still popular) but to stick Roman numerals on what, I'm presuming, is a typical terraced/semi/detached in a typical road in England, would look ridiculous. People would laugh........0 -

Rose Cottage was an example name.....you understand don't you?:D
Yes, I understand what you have stated.
I am sorry that you seem a little exasperated by my posts.
I think you may not understand that "Rose Cottage" is a euphemism in a well known, huge organisation.0
