Yet because it's 'normal' people couldn't tell me enough that I was wrong. But 'normal' is overweight now and no one understands what moderation really means.
I see what degree educated friends feed their children and it shocks me, yet the same people don't understand why their kids are chunky or won't eat proper food when they're constantly raiding the snack cupboard. We don't have a snack cupboard in this house.
I try to make sweets a treat, not a right, but they're given sweets and chocolate all the time by the grandparents etc. and sweets just get bigger and bigger. The in laws think nothing of giving them a 125g bar of Aero each. DS's favourite chocolate is a Snickers Duo. He complained when I once bought him a regular bar. He calls it a 'small one' and DD thinks that an entire Chocolate Orange is fine to eat in one sitting. There's barely a day that DD doesn't have a packet of Haribos in her book bag because it's someone's birthday.
The only way I can possibly keep their intake moderate is by personally not buying sweets and crisps for them at all!
We do have a naughty cupboard. It has stuff for dh in it.....crisps etc, stuff i use for baking, biscuits for guests coming, jams etc. and sweets.....useful for when lydiaj's kids visited. But as far as i am concerned it really is a cupboard that is used once a week or something.
I think sweets etc are fine as part of a diet....but not a daily one. Food for the soul is to my mind part of our make up now, but that soul warming food doesn't have to be devlish. Cakes, a bit of cream in our savoury sauces etc.....a little here and there is good for us imo....but the little bits add up!
And i agree, the edcuated are willfully blind and self justifying as much as the illeducated often. I know i am at times. But. Think knowing you can be like that might be part of the battle won. I hope.0 -
Yes but don't get too excited, purch...it's not MSE's version of adultfriendfinder.com
I found it.:j
First post was someone moaning about her friend standing her up on a lunch date
Why on earth anyone would think that was of any interest whatsoever to anyone else is beyond me !!!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

A tube of winegums are an essential requirement for the digestion of my lunch most days !!!'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

I don't think they are thinking about others interest, but then neither are we here, nor does most of the forum. I have no gripe against peopel asking for emotional advice or anything like that, but rather i find it sometimes enlightening.0 -

I am terrible. I will deprive myself of a proper lunch for a box of chocolate fingers and a can of coke if the desire takes me.
Just not in front of the kids. Do as I say, not as I do when you're at school!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
