For years I was thrown by the mis-spelling, until I was going through some of the old's paperwork earlier today and saw the original clipping and photos - and spotted the typo! So googled the typo and voila! As they have my name, being direct family, I was googling my name.... oh well, mystery solved.
Maybe others who are posh here will spot a sudden 'connection' under that "6 moves" rule....0 -
She died from cancer last year
I got to the stage where I was Wiki'ing everybody that was on any old telly programme to see if they were still about ..... still do it sometimes (er, often).0 -
There's a whole other English-speaking country where my name counts for a LOT .... biggun too ... part of solid founding history of the highest order.
Where did it all go wrong....?0 -

Never heard of the county you want to move to???Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Thanks Pastures. She has had her share of tricky times , scary episodes from me , a traumatic loss of her horse and a multiple bereavement we bore.
He talked a bit more later in the evening when I wasn't asking questions. In an unguarded moment, he admitted having enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, the zip wire, the low ropes and at least one of the team competitions. He didn't like getting tipped off his team's raft by the other team, and was quite upset about it, and he found the harnesses uncomfortable for the climbing and abseiling. However, he reports that one of the class bullies behaved much better than usual all week; the other one was as bad as ever, but didn't target him at all. After the rafting incident, he was wary of the canoeing at first but they did it in twos and threes, including the staff, so he chose to partner the teacher, because he felt he could trust him not to capsize them. All went well, and he liked the affirmation when the teacher said "We did it!" at the end. He thought the disco was both too loud and too silly, and he was unimpressed by the drying facilities:
"The drying rooms were rubbish. It took, like, three days to dry anything, and we got wet on Thursday, so that was useless. Everybody just hung their things out of the window, but I put mine on my bed because I didn't want them to get blown away or eaten by a sheep or something."
"They wouldn't let us do anything much on the obstacle course. I was going really fast and they kept telling me to slow down, and then when I jumped off at the end they didn't like it."
On the middle day, they went here. His verdict wasn't particularly positive: "We were in the bus most of the day, and then we had to see lots of dams and do stupid nature boring stuff." However, he became quite animated when telling me facts about the distance the water has to travel to Birmingham, and the height difference that's sufficient for the water to flow by itself instead of needing pumping, so I think he must have found that bit interesting, anyway.
I think it went as well as could have been expected, and about a million times better than I would have predicted this time last year, when I wasn't even sure if I'd be able to get him to go.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? One for zag or any lover of music.
Did you ever see the talent of Poly Styrene?
I seen her on top of the pops 2 tonight and thought I have to Google her as I remembered X-Ray specs from back in the day...
Seen some recent videos of her and what she was doing and she was a gorgeous person.
She died from cancer last year
Edit: Forgot to say she was only 53
I'd read that in the news myself . Also Ari Up from the Slits died last year (no, two years ago) also from cancer. Dinah Cancer is still doing well though, I'm pleased to say.
I really enjoyed punk; there was a local Radio Clyde show called Streetsounds which pushed it back in the day. People with nicknames like Victor Vomit or Greta Grog used to write letters in all the time.
53's not very old.PasturesNew wrote: »I spotted that last year... when it's happened close to you, you suddenly see it everywhere and then get overwhelmed at how many people are dropping off with it ... and you feel a huge sense of doom

Sometimes I'm never sure whether someone's still alive or not. Was chatting recently when Brian Rix 's name came up and I was struggling to remember if he was young enough to still be alive (he is).
I was one of those idiots who never twigged that Clive Dunn was one of the youngest people in Dad's Army.:rotfl:
Been to far too many funerals though. Was delighted by the recent birth of my niece. Made me suddenly feel like I belonged to a generation below the one I'm really in.:oThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Wow you know your stuff!
I liked fay fife in the day :A
Your a virgo Lydia?
Edit: I read that as a Lydia reply :rotfl:
I knew you'd know them zag. It wasn't always the most impressive type of music but people were just as talented.0 -

Thanks Spirit. It's hard when they're consistently negative, isn't it? Hugs to you. How long is it since your DD went through her tough stuff, and how old is she? DS is 11 now. His dad left when he was nearly 5, and died when he was 9. He also found the deaths of the dog and the goldfish hard.and of course my mum too.
