    Wow you know your stuff!

I liked fay fife in the day :A

A fan of the Rezillos/Revillos as well
Was most bemused when I came to lve in Surrey and found that half the bands seem to come from there (or SW London).

Sham 69 from Hersham , The Jam from Woking, Stranglers from Guildford, Merton Parkas from Merton Park.:o

Wasn't really the authentic working-class musical movement it seemed to be suggesting.:rotfl:

£200 for the kit though, then it's a free app on top of that.

Morning all. Thought I'd get an early start in the hope of getting out in the garden before the sun's too strong so I can start pulling my dandelions.

Very much looking forward to Monaco. I'll be watching both the quali and the race live. Last year DH and I went into Monaco and walked the entire circuit. You don't realise until you are there and walking up in 34 degree heat just how steep the hill up from Ste Devote to Casino Square is. It's so unlike any other circuit it is wonderful. I'll be interested to see where they put the DRS zones though. I'm guessing it will be either up the hill or on the start finish straight as there is nowhere else long enough.
It's also exciting that we could have yet another different winner.

In terms of punk, never really been into it. There are a few songs I like as they are just such classics of the era - London Calling would be a prime example - but I'm not a big fan of shouty rock music of any ilk including punk. Sad to hear about Poly Styrene though. Not a big fan of her music but she was an amazing person. It's awful that her daughter has lost her mum at such a young age too.

I have a twin freeview tuner in one of my pcs somewhere, cost about 30 quid, probably also hauppage, sometime when I get round to building my server in the loft I will stick it in there so that as well as internet streamed PCs you can also get broadcast TV from all the lan points.

DD1 had to learn the National Anthem for her non-meeting with the queen last weekend and as I was on utube I took the opportunity to introduce the DKs to the sex pistols version of god save the queen. DW wasn't too impressed when I suggested that we should sing this and make black power salutes during the National Anthem but you should know that the michaels's are not subject to anyone.
    I think....

Herts NPs. Do you have a good idea of what the going rate is for a gardener locally? I have about two days worth of quite heavy gardening to do. I've been trying to do it myself, but it's a losing battle. This morning I only managed an hour and a half before the sun was too strong so I don't think I'm going to manage. I have a couple of people in mind, but I don't want to either get ripped off or offer an insulting amount of money, so need to know where the ballpark is.

In gardening terms its not great when someone who can't go out in the sun marries someone who has such bad hay fever that they end up in casualty (not so far this year thank goodness).

FYI, the work is: weeding and putting down weedkiller on two patios, treating weeds in the borders (there are a lot of them), dealing with some brambles, feeding/treating the lawn, pruning my tree (its so tiny it could almost be done with nail scissors so not a big job) and generally getting it looking acceptable. Once that's sorted, probably putting some new ground-cover in the borders where the weeds are.

Hot, sunny ... but bl00dy breezy out there. A real door-slamming day, so you have to keep lots of doors closed so you can have the windows open.

When you move to a new area, you notice things that are of significant and notable difference to where you've moved from. Having seemingly endless wind that makes houses "like a wind tunnel" is a feature round these parts.
