Michaels, what conclusion did you come to about renting out your house for the olympics?

Any particular website that you would recommend?

Crazy isn't it? They broke a rule that was brought in last year after the same driver at the same team last year stopped his car on the track so that there was enough fuel to sample. Then expected to get away with it.

Half a second though... That's a lifetime in quali. What a stupid thing to do when they would clearly have gained pole anyway. Oh well, 20/20 hindsight.

Personally I don't believe they did it on purpose, they must have just screwed up.

I found it funny that it was reported on Saturday morning that the stewards were refusing to adopt a "zero tolerance" approach to regulation breaches, but yet they completely failed to apply any sense by putting Hamilton down to 10th instead of putting him to the back of the grid.

Not that it bothered me as I find Hamilton to be deeply unlikeable. I bet Alonso was absolutely loving it!

Ocado sent me an intro offer to Holidaylettings.co.uk = £1 for first 2 months, standard price is allegedly £299+vat pa

As I am only looking for Olympic lets I will cancel before paying. Apparently my property is also now on tripadviser.com (anyone heard of it?)

It has been up about a week, I have had 1 enquiry, I have done no SEO myself, however I need to rent for at least 2 weeks for it to be worth sorting out the insurance, gas and electric certificate etc. 5 bed 4 bath I am asking 1500pw during the Olympics which sounds cheap to me but then it is a decent trek from the Olympic Village (20 min train plus 5 min tube + ?? walk and queue). What I can't see on the site is any way to track views of the property or find out what search terms people use.

There are a few websites out there, and prices are all over the place. £1k+ per week for a 2 bed flat. So, £1500 seems very reasonable. Personally, I would not want strangers in my house, and in any case it is too untidy, but each to his own, I guess. If you let successfully, where will you stay?

Some people are renting out one or two rooms, whilst continuing to live there.

    I've been Money Tipped!
On FIR's recommendation I purchased a Waitrose black pudding scotch egg today whilst in town. I didn't think it was much different from a normal one to be honest, although I was severely dehydrated when I ate it being about 2L of fluid down which does make a difference to how things taste so is an excuse to get another one.

He says good for ypu for trying and certaily tr another, they do taste different. Like black pudding instead of sausage. Bloody and peppery.

The effort of tidying, packing up everything you wouldn't want messed with, making sure you have everything you need and alternative accommodation is too big a headache IMHO.

Personally I think you are too far away to attract much interest. May be a fast train line, but on a map you will look too distant.

I am impressed that Michaels is prepared to do that, as I just would not know where to begin to get rid of 15 years' clutter. And you would have to pay me more than Michaels is asking as rent in order to motivate me. The packing, removal and storage costs of some of the stuff we don't want broken would come to most of what he's charging as rent.

Mind you DW and I are planning to leave London during the Olympics, anyway.

Well I'd like to leave London for the Olympics and 4.5k for 3 weeks would make it possible. Most stuff would go in the roof and we don't really have precious objects so wouldn't mind the tenants using pretty much anything. It should be tax free income in DWs name (or under 'rent-a-room' scheme :) ) WE would probably go and stay with my parents in Devon for 3 weeks and use the money to get lots of things done here that need doing but are waiting for funds/a reason to make the effort.
