Oh , i envy you. It seems like the last 18 months a more time than i would like has been spent looking outside with the wind howling, whether wet or dry, the wind howls here, a constant reminder of Wuthering Heights, which means i walk around humming a lot of Kate Bush. It never is kathy at the window here, usually its a cat competing with the wind for best howl and too lazt to go round theotherway.0 -
Welcome to MoS,
I also have 2 sons, one who is doing a masters after finishing first degree last year. So he won't be a student after September.
The younger one is doing his A levels and hopes to start uni in September. He has started revising but not enough IMO.
Other than that I have my own business from home that involves a lot of paperwork and not much meeting real people, so I hang around here (too) regularly.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Although I'm going out today and tomorrow, it means I can garden on Sunday. I'm so giddy with happiness.0 -

Depends if your glass is half full or half empty as it is for anyone. I tend to go from eternal optimist to level headed and rarely anything lower.
I had a work colleague who was always negative about things and he would say "expect the worst then when good things happen it's all the better" The reality was he was always negative and when something positive happened, his happiness was short lived until he was negative again.
I tend to be always positive and when I get let down, it doesn't last long until I'm positive again :jvivatifosi wrote: »

Lydia started a reply to a post of mine with that. I was all for quoting it and placing it in my sig :A0 -
But they are already extremely popular, [vasectomies] aren't they? Among the couples I know who have reached that "definitely don't want any (more) kids" stage, I know of lots who've had it done, and only one who hasn't - and of course lots where I don't know and wouldn't ask. LNE was talking about having one after we had DD, but of course when he left me it became irrelevant.
Wierd how it follows in crowds. In my crowd (none of whom want more children) I only know of one vasectomy, over half the females have mirena, having got fed up of periods (sorry to use that word, men), the others haven't revealed.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Looks like a "four seasons in one day" forecast here today
It's Friday! Work is up todate so I'm going to the gym shortly, then some shopping, then pop into mums.
Course, plans are changeable, a bit like the weather0 -
Advice time.
As posted in the past, my father has the big C, currently undergoing some treatment which has involved a couple of overnight stays in hospital, but usually having chemo at home on a cycle. So life is a routine of tablets, appointments etc He is an extremely positive person, though the treatment is getting him down. On the other hand my mother panics at everything and isn't coping very well emotionally. Fair to say that his health is occupying their lives constantly.
Add to this they are 150 miles from here. Every month roughly, I visit and spend 3 or 4 days with them.
Now to the dilemma, I need to have a small operation next week. In hospital overnight and then a few days rest at home. Normally I would have kept them informed of what is going on and they would have been phoning me every day to see how the scans went, what the results were, how I am facing up to the thought of an op, whether I should really have an op (their have a fear of GA) etc.
With their current situation, they don't know anything. My plan has been not to tell them till afterwards, but they are going to be hurt that they weren't kept in the picture, that they weren't able to offer support etc. So should I tell them now or not?
(I thought of not telling them at all, but they won't understand why I can't visit so soon).I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Only you really know them but from how I read it, you should tell them.
If it is a routine small opp with little to no risk then it should be treated like that and they will cope with that. If It's a bit more than that they still need to know.
What if something went wrong, how would they feel? That's not likely to happen but I'm sure they will want to know.
And when exactly were you thinking of telling the nice people? :whistle:0 -
Tricky, silvercar, but I think I agree with sss, for all the same reasons he cites. Hope the op goes well, anyway. Hugs.
Talking of "when were you going to tell the NP?".... Well, some of you have been egging me on to get back out there and meet some men, so I suppose I should let you know that I am just about to go and meet one for coffee later this morning.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
