I spent about 2-3 hours solidly acting weird on that beach last year.... think: odd old woman poking about and going over every inch of sand and never looking up once ..... wearing a market kagoul. That was me that was :)

You'd hate it now .... Richard and Judy live there - and up the road, along the narrow, almost impassable for one car road is ..... a whole raft of uber-luxury eco holiday homes. That'll be traffic trouble come the summer.

Why were you acting weird? lol

    Richard and Judy! enough said

That road was bearly passable beforehand, it must be awful now. Such a shame as it was always so quiet and beautiful. Is the Monastery still there? I remember my parents buying crab sticks from the seafood trailer in Polperro and finding out the guy selling them used to live in our old street. Such a small world.

Welcome to corrag! from another Hertfordshiren!

Anyone suggest something to plant in place of the bizzie lizzies that got blighted last year. Apparently bizzie lizzies are out for 3 years now, I dont like primroses or geraniums. Needs to be something that doesn't need much soil as the beds are 2 inches wide between stone walls.

Got a long weekend ahead. First need to get home from Wales and then OH is working on Monday because he has a business trip planned for Monday in Germany where it isn't a bank holiday :(

Waiting to see if Boris beats Ken and wondering why it is taking them so long to work out the result. If they have scanned all the voting papers, surely the computer should just give the answer?

I always have two questions when I think of Boris/Mayor:
1] How come the London mayor's everywhere, you don't see my mayor on the telly?
2] How come Londoners picked such a tw4t?

Come to think of it .... I am not aware that we vote for our Mayor.... no idea how it works really though.

The house I grew up in was built in about 1890, I think, and the school I went to was built (as a house, not a school) in 1735ish.

My school buildings were incredibly historic. Maybe that's why I like properly quirky houses.

I used to take Geography in the room that was Queen Elizabeth I's bedroom for a week. Archbishops lived there from the 13th Century but possibly before that as the bursar worked in the undercroft, which was Norman, sat right next to a well. Odd but beautiful, beautiful, partly broken place.

Not one desk sat straight. We used to put our pencil cases under the legs to steady them.

I was incredibly lucky. I wish I'd have been able to realise that at the time.

    Oh, and hello corrag!

You know me too well PN. 50% 1938 (seems to be a bit of a theme) and half 2011. My last house was mostly1884 but a bit in 2004 and more in 2008 but when I was growing up the main house was Queen Anne with a couple of Victorian Wings.
So far... but michaels will probably pop up shortly and say he's posting from his new part of his mansion, which trumps your 1994 :)

Why Boris? Mostly because the only alternative was Ken...

It has been cold as well as miserable for the last couple of days and the weekend looks no different but if it is dry then an attempt will have to be made to cut the grass - 'attempt' because it may already be beyond the hover mowers abilities.

Does anyone have any tips on de-cluttering as the house has now reached that point where it is impossible to even decide where to start.
    I think....

I think we should institute a policy where anyone not sensible enough to live in Herts should post their location for the benefit of the rest of us ;)

What happened to that (horribly erroneous) map of NP the other week....? The one that didn't even have my half of my county on it....

Hilarious looking film just started (with a killer start that you missed) on Channel 4.

Hot Rod - not my subject of choice, but the opening scenes made me LOL.
