Have you been where the Queen's been?

A little bit of light fun to follow on from my rant:

    My score is 39

    56.

The sad thing is that, while we all get where you are coming from with that, if you said as much it would suggest that you'd thought it through and had booked the Ibis to throw her off the scent.

I'd hide your car keys and listen out for the spin cycle if I were you.

Ha ha! Well once she had been reminded what I was actually doing, she did say "I did think it was a bit scummy for you".

She did at least go and fish the kindle receipt out of the outside bin!

So how should the money be shared out - they get £5 for me clicking through but an extra £50 for the 50th person that month. If I am lucky enough to be the 50th person should I get the extra £50 or how should it be shared out? If they were not able to make any profit why would they bother to run the site when only the customers were benefiting?

With due respect Lydia, he has not answered it. I understood the mechanics of how they make the money, but I think the wording is misleading, as the bonuses come from the retailers. 100% means 100%, including bonuses.
    I think....

Cool! I though Hamish would have a high score but I bet even he struggles to meet that.

    Indeed. That's impressive.

I'll be a lot closer by the end of this year though....;)

I have no objection to them making money, but maybe they should simply stop making false claims?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

When I retired 16 years ago, aged 42:j I'd been to around 40 Countries. One of my loves was Travel so I backpacked around many Countries in the years after that. Unlike many Travel bores, it's been about re visiting places, not Country counting. In fact I don't know how many I've been to, although probably somewhere North of 120. Instead of counting sheep, when I can't sleep, I count Countries, I normally get to about 90 by the time I'm snoring!

Getting away for a few days for a "boys" weekend away, as DW would call it. First flight in years, but from a good airport. Be on the Med by Friday -for the first time in almost a decade.

Expect some well-deserved radio silence from zag from Friday.

Speaking of snoring, Trev, expect to read in the papers about a Scotsman thrown into the sea by his fellow-travellers for Olympic-standard snoring (I'm coming down with a cold and I expect we'll be drinking like fish).:D

But not the £5 annual fee.
Point taken about 100% being misleading if it doesn't include bonuses though.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Notice now that loads of villages have a set of three takeaway outlets (one each of pizza/ Indian /Chinese).

Can't figure out the economics of it -how many people can afford to buy food in; or is it just an extra income for people with a day job?

The next big village has a chinese takeaway and two indian restaurants. They are a godsend at present as our oil fired cooker broke down at the end of last week and it will be 2 weeks before an engineer can come out. We have dined out twice this week, had takeaways twice, slow cooked once and microwaved M&S food one night.

We have spent what feels like a small fortune over the last week and are really not enjoying it at all.:(

Score is 18 (plus 6 others she's not bothered to visit). Been to many countries for many repeat visits (France, Spain, US, Netherlands). Also been to countries that aren't countries any more (Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Macau, GDR).

I've only been to one that she hasn't (ecuador) and one former country ............ Scotland.......:D
