I've got quite a vast collection of vacuum bags, with the plastic nodules - but I do have one of the rollup variety.

As a rule, I roll up all clothes for packing as you can really get a lot more into a case more easily - and it comes out less rumpled. I think even some large freezer bags are airtight enough for holiday clothes use.

With the vacuum bags, although using a vacuum really makes them small, just sitting on the bag to exhale the air makes a significant difference too.

So many bags are sold as "large" without any indication of size. I've got 3 "jumbo" which are really only suitable for people wanting to store stuff under a bed

Although I passively promote cashback sites, I don't use them as a rule because I don't buy stuff. I've used them in the past and had about £16 cashback.

The world of cashback cards and cashback sites is something you really need to be settled/organised about - and spending lots of money.

I have a sibling who swears by nectar points .... always telling me how much they've got back.... yet they have no concept of how much they've spent to accumulate that. If I had/used one it just wouldn't be worth the hassle of scrabbling round for it.

Parent has to get rid of loads of furniture because it won't fit in the new house. So, we have some more furniture. But our house is already pretty full.

We were going to buy a new bed soon, ours is really dreadful, but seems we are getting what we call the Britney Spears bed.....i don't know why we call it that. Its like a fake french antique one. It has an upholstered head board. I hate upholstered beds and the grease of people's heads on them. Parent suggested i wrap it in clingfilm. I suggested they took it and push it up against the wall so that they can only get to one side, but that's 'revolting' so not going to happen.

One day the britany spears bed can be a guest bed i guess.

Even if i take a very small pull along the chances are it weighs more than it should. I often have to repack and shuffle at the airport if i have not weighed it at home.

My case is a lightweight one, so full it weighs about 16kg. I can use a couple of storage bags, get more in and get up to 23kg. I have one of these so I always know how much my luggage weighs and they are very accurate:

I have changed case a few times recently. In fact, last time used a cheap 'chinese' case from tourist area because of my liz claibourne via tk max bag slitting, and then a few years ago i broke my v expensive lightweight suitcase, cannot remember make, but from when i dashed about a lot and wanted/ needed a lightweight hard case, or rather ryan air did (first and last ryan air flight). They did agree they had damaged it but one thing and another meant i did not persue the claim, stupidly.

How long ago did they damage it and do you have a claim number (or did you have one)? It may be you can still claim. I have a claim with a different airline at the moment and I can't find another case I like so they have given me up to six years to make a claim.

I had a claim number, but i have not got it now. The airline in this situ always have the advantage. Airline workers at work with computers, while traveeler arriving at horrid stanstead (i think, i might remember that incorrectly) after all transport gone, arriving several hours late wondering how the dickens one gets where one needs to, wich only scraps of paper to scribble numbers on.

I don't know how long ago it was. Too long i think.

I should get one of those because our luggage weighing ritual is as follows:

- Digital Salter scales display "error" when putting just suitcase on it.
- Wheezy steps on scales and remembers his weight.
- Wheezy steps on scales with suitcase.
- Substraction leads to approximate suitcase weight.
- Wheezy gets told off for being too fat.
