I prefer birds eye potato waffles, as they are waffley versatile.

    2 things:

    1. Whenever I see birds eye waffles, that song comes into my head. Takes ages to get rid of it

    2. Not long after arriving back to the land of having a freezer rather than a rubbish icebox thing we had some of the aforementioned waffles. I was quite excited with the anticipation as I hadn't had them for years... but they were horrid! Really salty and with quite a chemical aftertaste :(

If there is one place that has worse food (and worse supermarkets) than the uk it is the us! Absolutely appalling. I always find looking at American recipes funny as they use such a ridiculous amount of processed ingredients.

DS's Blazer fits me. At £85 for something worn to mass and none in the second hand shop, I'm not reinvesting before he leaves this school.

I did buy it when he wasn't with me. First thing he did whrn I gave it to him eas rip the labels off, before even trying it on. It's vast. I am able to interpret blazer sizing now and realise I'd bought a women's size 12 for a kid that was 10 at the time. When they have photos taken, his teacher makes another child lend him theirs, it's that ridiculous :o

    We'll call it character building!

My secondary school had an incredibly 'distinctive' blazer (well, the whole uniform was pretty distinctive. I think I wore my blazer a maximum of three times - first day and last day of school and thats about it. As the uniform was so unusual (and thus expensive) there were pretty good second hand sales. Glad we only went second hand with the blazer rather than buying one new!

Good job I had no intentions of moving any boxes today .... it'd be awful. It'd be: pick up box, put it down by the door, open door, lift box, take it outside, put it down in the wet, close the door, pick up box, walk through 3" of puddle flood water to gate, put down box on wet ground, open gate, pick up soggy-bottomed box (that would have a soggy top by now) and carry it to the car, put box down on the wet floor, open the car boot, lift up very soggy box and put it in the car, close car boot ... and leg it back indoors... sodden.

However, I have no food - unless a packet of chocolate digestives I bought yesterday counts... and the bounty bars... although had half of each of those already. Had the last 1/3rd of the pizza I bought yesterday fore breakfast .... that just leaves me with the last 2 frozen crumpets... and some cheese. So, crumpets and cheese for lunch it is!

Ew, ew and for good measure triple ewwwwwww...

However having spent part of my childhood in Aus, I will admit that I love Vegemite, am quite happy with cold baked beans. I'm not sure if Aus is also responsible, but I much prefer UHT to pasturised milk too.

There is truely excellent american food, and british food. I have had miserably awful food in france and italy too.

I am not a fan of recipes that start 'take a packet of....' but sometimes they are good.

My particular giggle with us food is jello salads. I like some of them, but others just make me laugh. Edit: beetroot from a pack, rinsed and chopped chunkily put through a blackcurrent jelly when cool but not set is a quick and easy way to sample this delight if its not familiar to you.

Glad you're not moving boxes today, I had visions of the bottom falling out in the soggy mess. Are you near a supermarket or corner shop so you can get a few staple foods in?

GDB, silvercar and any other NPs with kids going to uni this year. Any idea when the student finance forms need to be filled in and submitted?

Do parents need to fill in part of the form?
DD seems to have no idea (her school's usually good at this type of thing).

Stumbled across a reminder at work that the forms need to be submitted but can't find any other source of information about deadlines and who does what

Do we need our tax slip for the year or can we estimate our income from payslips (we're well over the threshhold for grants I believe so I can't be 4rsed chasing detailed info so the Dept of Adminstrative Affairs can leave it on a train.).
