yum, i love haggis.
Never had it, What's in it? Could this be the start of another ...who likes what, like the mushrooms?
I was going to post something serious I read today in last Sunday's newpaper (yes it takes me that long to read it all) about the pensions of the 1% private executives and director's, but I've had a couple of glasses of red, well it is Friday after all.... Maybe tomorrow.0 -

Lamb offal, oatmeal, spices and stuff. Traditionally cooked in a sheep stomach. Sounds disgusting, I know. It looks like mince once it's opened. I'm cooking eight big scrumpy sausages as well - anyone who doesn't like haggis can fight over the sausages.
I don't really like offal unless it's disguised - I like pates, I like a bit of black pudding and I like haggis. I love oatmeal. Oatmeal stuffing rocks!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I haven't seen Obama singing!?
Making dinner for 10 tomorrow. Cooking today to try and be prepared. It all usually starts well, then I havea glass of wine and can't be bothered anymoreThe problem is trying not to eat it all before then.
Starter:

Main will be haggis, neeps and tatties with a whisky & mustard sauce. I found a nice oaty haggis, I'm not even attempting my own or I'd never eat it. Just pondering asto whether I make the neeps and tatties more of a roasted bubble&sueak type affair, then that will be another pre-organised thing but perhaps too much roasted stuff.
Individual ones of these for puds:

H is annoyed as there's no space in either oven for the kids dinner
I think I've been to one proper dinner ever - a new boss invited me to dinner to meet his family about 20+ years ago. I remember we had onion soup, which was topped with a bit of bread and melted cheese.... I'd never had that before, it was lovely.
Only other times I've eaten at people's houses would be after collecting pie/chips, an indian/chinese or kebab after the pub ... and even then I could count those instances without taking my socks off.0 -
Pn, you cN do a cheats bersion of that soup and home, softening onions in butter then adding a tin of consomme. Get a small bagette and some cheese for the top and you are away. I do that fot dh sometimes when i am just having consomme.0

Do they still make consomme soup? Never had it, used to see the tins in the 80s.
Need a grill too ....
And, don't forget, in a small space all my clothes would stink of onions for a week. You can't cook smelly stuff when you're doing 1-room living.0 -
Just used mysupermarket to look up consomme soup ... and it's not a flavour is it. Only one tin says "Consomme Soup", and not at all shops - so it's rare these days.... and £1.70/can!!! There's no way I'd spend that on a tin of soup.
That makes a bowl of soup with onion/baguette/cheese about £2.40.
Pfft... I could eat for two days for that much
Or, I could have 4 microwave kebabs and 2-3 bowls of chocolate custard.0 -

That's why it's as healthy as a breath of fresh air
As regards eating offal I can't stand liver but disguised in pate it's gorgeous.:cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I just got off the phone with my friend. She's decided that the house next door is the only real contender, but isn't going to hurry into anything. She's booked a second viewing for tomorrow week to take her husband and all 3 kids to see it.
If it had been up to me, I wouldn't have told any of the kids about it until and unless it became definite. However, my friend has told her kids and they're coming to play here tomorrow afternoon, so there's no way they wouldn't tell my kids, which means I've had to tell them tonight. I laid it on as thick as I could about how nothing is definite and chains can collapse etc, but they still squealed with excitement and ran round and round in circles - literally.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I like Orkney Crab Pate. No offal in that
I've bought that twice, about 5-6 years ago... ate it on toast.0
