Yes, i have done this. The three nearest are all one practise, with no competiton in the nearest town. Its actually a bit odd to have one group covering the area with no competition imo. They are the ones we are with but who i know i cannot see again.

The nest nearest is my bf's dad. I am private enough for this to be abhorant to me. The nxt nearest is bf's dads greatest enemy. They are proud enough that if they new i was seeing them there would be bad blood. The next town, which davesnave knows well has a few, which i am trying to find out more about, and the nicest one is the next town in the other direction, who i asked but they don't want to take me.

I imagine if i said...i have this weird gp phobia thing going on, people would probably be quite helpful but ....i just find that hard ink)too now. My old gp knows pf cours,e mainly becuase i burst into tears when i went into see her and had to apologise and explain...which is why we developed a very good phone relationship, lol, but also, she was really patient and just kindly ignored the tears so when i had to go a few times a week we both just accepted i would cry, and to ignore it. I also laugh ...which is a bit odd, and try to carry on as if my mascara were not on my chin.

I am not at all worried about any procedures. I can inject myself and take a needle well. I like to watch. Its not what they do, its just...who they are.:o

If you've any family in any charity/mutual/public sector jopb e.g teaching, Post office, army etc. you can join the Benenden Healthcare scheme. They have a 24 hour gp for telephone advice amongst other services. You have to be with them for six months before some of the services kick in, but the gp helpline is available as soon as you join. You pay monthly and it's supposedly good but I don't know anyone personally who's had to use it. More affordable than BUPA at any rate (it's about £ 6 per month I think).

I don't like those doctors that make you feel a bit stupid and push you out of the door when you're not actually the type to turn up with just a cold.

    I haven't seen Obama singing!?

Making dinner for 10 tomorrow. Cooking today to try and be prepared. It all usually starts well, then I havea glass of wine and can't be bothered anymore :o The problem is trying not to eat it all before then.

    Starter:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/roastsquashandsweetp_90620

Main will be haggis, neeps and tatties with a whisky & mustard sauce. I found a nice oaty haggis, I'm not even attempting my own or I'd never eat it. Just pondering asto whether I make the neeps and tatties more of a roasted bubble&sueak type affair, then that will be another pre-organised thing but perhaps too much roasted stuff.

Individual ones of these for puds:

H is annoyed as there's no space in either oven for the kids dinner :o

Hmm....we had a McSween's haggis a few weeks back, and DW was up half the night, throwing-up. I was fine though, so it might not have been the haggis.

Anyway, haggis is banned here, at least for now. :(

Did someone say it was cold today? We ignored headlines like: "Britain braces itself for Arctic blasts!" and went to Dartmoor. There, we found little if any wind, and plenty of sunshine for a nice long walk. Evidence below.

We're a bit out of condition. On the return leg we were both limping along for different reasons, but the going was pretty rough in places. It seemed very odd though, not to meet anyone else in 3.5 hours of walking.

That looks like a lovely walk, Davesnave. Brave as well - 3.5 hours! Was there a pub in the middle?

That's really worrying about the haggis. Guess what I've bought? :(

Had to ask DW about this - I think you need to be a bit more metrosexual than I am to be able to judge other men - and she agreed with you 100% (possibly too much, too quickly...)

NP ladies (mostly).... I'm embarrassed but have to ask this question. Did anyone else find Pres Obama singing Al Green ever so slightly sexy? I can't imagine ever feeling that way about David Cameron and far less about Gordon Brown, but the man seemed quite hot as well as having a lovely singing voice.

LIR I agree with you about GPs - whenever I go I just get the impression they are thinking 'why are you wasting my time', and that after waiting for 3 weeks for an appointment and then 30+ minutes in the waiting room. Would I really bother with all that if there wasn't a good reason?

Great photo DN - even though I wasn't there it really brightened up a cold dark evening following a cold dark day in London.
    I think....

And surprise, surprise, so do I!

It'll be a McSweens of course. Maybe a vegetartian one (my local supermarket had run out of the meat ones, but stil had some veggie ones left and they're not bad.;)

I wouldn't worry if you have the same brand. They are one of the better ones, and not cheap. We've had 'em before with no probs.;)

3.5 hours isn't brave if you've estimated 2.5 hours max! :rotfl:

No pubs on that walk, but plenty where one can be fitted-in, though those are the more well-trodden, touristy trails. Mind you, I'd not go where we were today in summer time, because the little lanes are then a traffic nightmare.

Lostinrates & I chat elsewhere to others who enjoy an outdoor life, either for real,or vicariously. It's hard to believe that we all live in the same small country, when we share our experiences of local weather day to day.
