I go shopping when the weather is bad and I can't do stuff on the ranch, or if we run out of curry, whichever comes first.
We have three freezers full of stuff, so unless it's a bog roll miscalculation, things are never really desperate. No serious shopping trip is less than 26 miles return.
Today I had to go south, so I shopped in the supermarket full of geriatrics and had a nasty trolley accident and a few near misses as a result. Spent under £50 and left early.
If I go north, there is always the chance that I'll bump into my childhood sweetheart, so that adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the trip. However, she's now 62, so there's more than an even chance that we won't recognise each other anyway. I sent her a photo of me in 2005, and there's no telling when hers was taken. :rotfl:
If I go east, I get to go to the same brand supermarket as when I go south, except that instead of geriatrics, it's full of young Mums saying, "I've bleddy told you NO, so shut up and stop whining!" For some odd reason, the demographic there doesn't allow them to stock garlic & coriander pittas or 'proper' marmalade.
If I were to go west, that would be a long trek to somewhere the estate agents call a 'bustling' town. It sounds very restless and disorientating, so I've given it a miss so far and gone south west instead. That gives me the very unusual combination of Waitrose, Lidl and Co-op.....well it's unusual around here. I haven't quite sorted how to do that one yet. Always seem to return with an electrical gadget I don't need, some fab ice cream, great meat and...well, not what I set out to get!0 -
I'd like to live close to food shops that open 24 hours a day .... so I could park and shop at leisure late at night.... so I only then had to pop in for "something nice" occasionally.
I did briefly live within 2 miles of a 24 hour shop 2-3 years ago - and it didn't quite ever work out like that. They've usually run out of the basics (especially bread) and the staff are loud, young, lads swearing like troopers and telling each other about their conquests.... while not giving a stuff if there's a customer of delicate disposition in the next aisle .0 -
Caviar comes from the virgin Sturgeon
The virgin Sturgeon needs no urgin', and
That's why caviar is a very rare dish.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

1 tin tomatoes
1 bl00dy 500g packet of SR flour
4 potatoes

This is not a very balanced diet, is it? For example, there are no chocolate biscuits. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Leftfield question for the nice peeps.
This afternoon, a female friend visited, & in general chatter mentioned that they are finding it difficult to find somewhere that sells skirts. I am aware said friend has been looking to update their skirts for a little while, with little/no success. Que todays grumble session.
Is this a fashion trend? Are other ladies finding similar difficulties? Can anyone recommend suitable options?
Friend tends to favour Evans, Asda, Matalan, Bon Marche style places I believe. Not looking for flash going out stuff, just normal, affordable skirts for everyday wear, like at work etc. Full length too - they're not a fan of short or even 3/4 length AFAIK.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
At DDs school the girls can chose skirts or trousers (unfair I think as the boys can't chose skirts). With DDs still quite young and not yet stupid and me being quite traditional I am happy for them to wear skirts but when they reach the 'hitch up skirt so hem is at belt level' age I suspect I will suddenly see the benefit of trousers.I think....0

I didn't know we were supposed to update our skirts, as girls.... I just wear them until they don't fit or fall apart. Mine'll do me for life now.... nobody likes to see old birds in minis.0 -
Lj, depends what sort of skirt they are after. Straight skirts are about the easiest thing possible to sew.0

I don't buy alcohol either...apart from if I am getting a cheap bottle of plonk to give to someone for a birthday.
Getting nervous for tomorrow night, the lads will be doing 4 or 5 songs at the gig, just hope middle son remembers everything! The school have been great again in lending the lads extra amps, stands and cymbals so they look and sound impressive on stage.
Eeeekkk! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
