Sorry, but it is only 50% of Queen.

Have a good one. I couldn't bring myself to do it I'm afraid...

I saw Adam Lambert last year at the Shepherds Bush Empire. He is a phenomenal singer - almost, though not quite - in the Steven Tyler/Freddie Mercury league. He has great power in his voice and truly outstanding range. However until now I think he has suffered from weak material. Seeing him let loose on the Queen songbook with the surviving band members will be quite a treat, I hope.

On a totally different level, I've also got tickets to see this:

Swing Out Sister is a fantastic band to see live. They are technically very good and I love the way they chuck in bits of Lonnie Liston Smith, Ramsay Lewis, Earth Wind and Fire and all sorts of other acts into their set. When you see them, it's a real treat for anyone who likes that type of music as they'll be playing and you'll get a riff from Sun Goddess or a bit of Roy Ayres and you get an "oh yeah, I remember that smile" before they move back to the song. I'm an ageing soul girl, so it's right up my street.

Transcribing specific items can also be interesting. e.g. this lot of (foreign) letters: http://www.batharchives.co.uk/documents_online/langton_family_papers/the_transcriptions.aspx

Get to be nosey, whilst sitting indoors in the warm, choosing your own hours.

Upyou would be great at that. I feel my typing skills might require another nice person to volunteer to retrqnscibe...don't ya think?:D

I had thought of the local primary school, but then thought childless woman offering to help with reading stories or something might be seen as someone looking to pick one to nick:eek::D

I was a childless man asking if I could film the children! :rotfl:

Well, a lot of these things are written in Ye Olde Englishe..... so transcribing into current English with typos is step 1... another volunteer can then correct the typos.

There's loads of different types of documents and collections and levels of transcription required.... nobody can be good at everything and every little helps.

It can also be local work as collections and records etc are held everywhere.

    I don't take stalker notes :(
    I've missed whatever it was.

I don't live in a big house Pastures. I live in a three bed semi but it is only a small 3 bed, 82 sq m. It's just right for two of us. My old house was 368 sq ft which I think is about 38-39 sq m so very small - 1 bedroom. I'm certainly not used to living somewhere palatial. I do however live in a nice area, on a managed estate. We have gardeners coming round to manicure the estate so it always looks good round here.

No disrespect lir, but you could singlehandedly be responsible for a mass changing of surnames in the west country. It would certainly make tracing family trees, erm, interesting.

Haha, its good that sanity exists. I dare say it does more than people like to portray.

I know i want to do something relatively local, but not too local possibly. To embed me in my new home, but not confine me to my own spot too much.

I do know there are LOTS of charities and groups locally, as is common with a county town.

The wreck is sizable, but not huge. It could be accurately described as two bedroom, or as four if an estate agent. (there is a cot room and a bedroom you walk through).

    Gosh, this takes some maths.

    82 sq m = 880 sq feet (rounded).
Assuming two floors, that's 440 sq feet per floor.
If that were a square it'd be 21' square (on each floor). As a rectangle it could be 15'x30' (on each floor).
Yep -- that's not overly huge is it.

My caravan was 300 square feet and plenty of room. My last studio was 250 square feet, plenty of room but wrong layout.

With good storage and the correct layout, even small is big.... but big with the wrong layout and no storage is cr4p. Current place is bigger but no storage and cr4p layout.
