Men seen to get better and better with age, noone is suprised by a sexy fifty year old man, but a sexy fifty year old woman makes headlines.

I'm not bothered about headlines but as a man, I find the general maturity of women in their 40's, 50's and 60's, can be very attractive so it's no surprise to me.

Maybe its offer like that which keep me single too!:rotfl:
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

So NP's, do we give suggestions? How about:
    http://www.svr.co.uk/

Day out on a steam train, shopping & lunching with mum &/or friends?
I'm old enough to be her mum ... and can hardly think of an activity less exciting.... it'd be like a Special Train Ride Into Old Age.

You need to be freeeeeeee - especially as it'll be summer and a bank holiday weekend. Need to do something summery and fun. Trains constrain.

I think a lot of volunteering would require LIR to be dependable, for people to be able to rely on her... and I don't think she wants to be constrained, to commit. There are so many other calls on her time in her life, my 'transcribing' idea probably might not be up her street - but it does demonstrate that there are volunteer opportunities which don't need a person to be at a certain place, at a certain time, else they're letting somebody down.

Also, LIR has her own problems - and might find other people's problems tiresome if they're less of a problem than her own... IYSWIM.

Transcribing specific items can also be interesting. e.g. this lot of (foreign) letters: http://www.batharchives.co.uk/documents_online/langton_family_papers/the_transcriptions.aspx

Get to be nosey, whilst sitting indoors in the warm, choosing your own hours.

Yeah, i am ok with people being ill, and ok with them moaning about it,.....we all need to. But to hear someone harping on about something that i would swap for week after week might make me less happy not full of the glow of helpfulness. But then, might be able to do something for some one who makes me feel lucky, when my firend had cancer a coue of years ago i walked her dogs every day with my dog and sometimes big dog and now dead dog. It made me feel useful, which i liked. And actually, made me walk on somedays if it wer ejust dog dog i might have said 'it hurts too much, i will just watch while you play'. So was good for me. I think i need to volunteer to do something for me iyswim.

I don't mind commiting to times weekdays and short hours. I couldn't do more than say three hours on the trot, because i would be hurting by then and still have to do stuff here, plus would not want to leave the animals for more thana half day.

I had thought of the local primary school, but then thought childless woman offering to help with reading stories or something might be seen as someone looking to pick one to nick:eek::D
