    What does this mean?

    blue job = mans job

    pink job = womans job

    I've been Money Tipped!
Today our court case in italy has reached a crescendo. Just as the judge was indicating she would find in our favur the other party jumped up and said he wants to settle.

For various reasons, depsite it being a lower amount it has always been our preference to settle,(silly things like a moral victory, and frankly, just wanting what was due really) so details are being hashed out now. We might even get enough to have a takeaway pizza. Hopefully it will mean an end to the dreams where we get the guy's old porsche as a payment which was up on blocks and clearly had been for a while when we were there, and would doubtless cost more to get running than it would ever, ever be worth.

I'm annoyed by Evernote today.... as a free user, I get 60MB of data transfer per month. Fine .... once I've populated it fully my usage will drop off as I will be referring to it and not adding to it. So I am prepared to wait until the next month to continue adding.

Yesterday my account info said "1 day left of this cycle", which I took to mean that today a fresh data allowance cycle would start. Midnight "1 day left" - OK, so it's not working on UK time. 7am this morning "1 day left" - OK, it's on a US time I've yet to discover. 8am "0 days left".... grrr..... so I have to wait until tomorrow.

I won't break ... I won't pay to upgrade to unlimited. Oh no ... they can't break me.... I'll wait. I have about 20 new links to put in there once I've got the full data allocation again (tomorrow).

My 30s so far have been much better than any point in my 20s. I didn't particularly enjoy turning 30, but you get over that in about a day...

Once you hit 30 it is acceptable to start acting like a grumpy old git, which is why I am enjoying it more. Also around 30 is the point where, as a professional anyway, you start earning enough money to not have to worry about anything. I wouldn't want to spoil that by throwing some children into the mix at the moment, they can wait until I'm 50 or something.

Just got tired of going up and down all the stairs and used to dread forgetting anything. The first floor was just something that made climbing the stairs twice as tiresome.

A three story house is only useful if the second floor only has a store room or spare room

My office is on the top floor, whilst the kettle and coffee-making paraphernalia are on the ground floor. With answering the door, meals, and lots of coffee, I am up and down the stairs at least 10 times a day (20 more likely), and I reckon it's good for me.

I was cashing up one of the tills in the Restaurant we owned at the time in downtown Tampa.

I turned around and saw about 30 people with their faces pressed up against the heavily tinted glass windows. In my usual friendly way I opened the door and asked what the !!!! they wanted, and one of them said, look at the TV (I couldn't see it from the Bar area, and the sound was muted)

10 minutes later the place was packed with people just staring blankly at the telly....hardly a word was said for ages.

I remember thinking that all the people I knew worked in the south Tower, (especially two really good mates at Cantor) so they were safe, and then the 2nd plane came into view and the rest is history

Less than 2 weeks before the day, I had taken the family to NY for a weekend....we still have a video taken on the viewing platform on top of the south tower....my 5 yo son is pointing at planes landing at La Guardia "look daddy.....the planes are lower than we are"

    Makes me cry everytime. :o

Purch that is just so sad. What happened at Cantor was awful. So many people, so many promising futures, so many fractured families.

I had a chance to speak to the person that I knew who survived. They told me that they were in a meeting in the south tower, quite high up but below where the plane struck. They had seen the plane strike the north tower and were told to stay put. When the second plane hit the south tower, they told me the whole building shook. Being British, their instinct was to escape and not listen to the people who told them to stay put, many Europeans left and were among the last who escaped. They said that something in their gut told them that they'd seen what the IRA did in London and knew to get out of the building. Many others were innocent of worrying about such things and stayed put, listened to those who said they would be safer in the building and died. The survivors got only a couple of blocks or so away from the building before it came down and were hit by flying debris. I've tried to be a bit vague in the way I've told this so as not to give the identity of the person for the privacy and will take this paragraph down in a day or so, so please don't quote. It's awful.

On a more cheerful note purch, I have an unused gift voucher for the Spaghetti Warehouse in Ybor City. That wasn't your place was it? I might just have to come down to the moors and claim my meal;).

When I was 30, I wasn't married, or even thinking about being a father. I had a house, though.

By the time I was 35, I was married, my house had been completely rebuilt after a large fire and we had our first child.

Sometimes, life moves a little bit too fast! ;)

    Happy weekend birthday, Nikkster. :bdaycake:

    I got married at 39...no kids...1 doggy :)

    Happy Birthday Nikkster! :kisses:

I remember being in the office on 9/11 and the news came up on Yahoo. My reaction was "how horrible, with all the passengers still on the planes!", and my colleague pointed out how hard it is to evacuate thousands of people from a building. He was way ahead of me on that one.
