I don't buy enough stuff to be one of those shoppers for whom vouchers makes any difference... same with any cashback cards - more effort than it's worth in the main.

When people are 'bragging' about how much they got in vouchers etc I think "Yeah, but how much did you spend to get that??"

You can't save, say, £2000/year if your total life spend isn't even that much.

    I've been Money Tipped!
My parents asked me to write a list of what i want from their house if they don't want it. I understand my sister wrote the white goods and tv, and the arts and antiques of value.

I asked for a pine wardrobe and my mother suggests i have a sofa my sister dislikes . I have six sofas now, what the dickens would i do with another one? It is big though. Our furniture is all for short people, so a big sofa might be good....

You need to go round there to make a list really - you'll be surprised what's lurking around that you'd forgotten.

C ] not caring! Thus looking like you are having. Abetter time than all the people with boring dates!

I've put proper red lippy on for confidence but I'm more looking forward to going alone than staying at home and missing her, so I'm going. The seats next to me are full so I imagine most people will think I'm with the other lot, unless I've somehow ended up in a full row of friends!

    http://driver-art.co.uk/wordpress/new-oil-painting-orange-half/

    Its lovely.

Cannot afford another right now, but know which one i would buy if i could.[/QUOTE

I like the depth and mood of this and it would also make a good avatar for me. I eat orange peel and leave/throw away the fruit.

My family and colleagues think it bizarre.

    Nah.

My sister has a list she makes as my mum buys stuff, date purchased, where, why she feels she has a bigger claim on it than be and approximate value for her insurance claims. ;)

My mum roughly assigns the stuff as she buys it, so there will be no rows, but ultimately my sister wants anything of value.

She can have it all. I want to choose stuff with dh and we have junk from his family and stuff we have chosen, which is how i would prefer it. Besides, we have a lovely painting of half an orange, who could want more, eh?:D

My cats would like you, they love citrus peel. :).

I really like the one he had done with a knife too, but it was already sold.

Its just very nice. So, small dark pictures of oranges and birdy lamps, and no electricity to the ceiling lights, the foundations for our perfect home. :D. Any luck and one day soon i will find a stuffed pug or armadillo and then i'll really be getting somewhere:D

DD has just arrived home from taking her cat to the vet for a follow up visit to the vet.

Money is tight for her as she is still studying and works part-time so shelling out £160 for a Bank Holiday appointment and a further £38 today has been a bit of a stretch this week. Enzo (the stray she adopted) however has not been peeing so a professional opinion was needed.

He has not had any further medication, however on the way back from the vet he has just had a really big wee in her car. He is now laying on the dogs bed and she is outside with upholstery cleaner.

We had a willow taken down a couple of years ago, it had electricty cables running through it so we did not attempt it ourselves. £350 to fell and grind out the stump. They chipped and removed the branches and chopped the trunk. We freecycled the logs and had lots of takers.

Electricity cables are usually the responsibility of the power distribution company.

We didn't know this when we moved in here, but early on we looked at the line running towards the village and decided a few of our trees were a bit close..... Sooo.....we waited for a calm evening, and then DW pulled on the rope while I sawed, and in about 20 minutes the job was done.

And we didn't get 11 000 volts through us. :)

It was about 2 months later that Western Power Distribution asked if they could enter our land to do "essential pruning work." :o

Never mind, we cheered-up when their cheque arrived for the wayleave. No one had told us about that either! :D

You've not had a very good fitter then.

I am very fussy about my contact lens fitter, I normally interview them and explain to them what my problem is and see how they are like, most places will let you have a chat with the lens fitter for free.

I do have quite dodgy eyes though and wear gas permeable lenses

Doesn't seem very reliable. They should be able to gauge the correct strength there and then. Judging which manufacturer produces the most comfortable lens may be more tricky, but I would expect them to have samples in store. D&A (now Boots) give OH 3 (x2) packs to try of 3 different types and he trials them and reports back which is most comfortable.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've never been to the opticians before so I'm a noob at all this and didn't know what to expect.

It's with D&A (Boots) also and they seem comfortable enough so far.
The funny thing was that he didn't have my strength in the shop so he "nipped" along to the other shop while I sat in the examination chair. I sat back in the chair and text a friend to say what was going on and ended the text with.. AMATEURS!

I will see how this pair are when they arrive or possibly buy from online depending how things go.
