The people at our local allotment seemed really enthusiastic when we told them about the muck heap here....well rotted now mainly muck not bedding......but they never did come for it.

I want to bag it and sell it at the gate but dh is opposed. 50p a sack not quite full for easy tramsportation seems good to me...

IT is a shame you're not nearer to me. We were looking for a muck heap but didn't get round to it.

I ache today. Another class on Monday to keep the pain levels strong. :(

Electricity cables are usually the responsibility of the power distribution company.

We didn't know this when we moved in here, but early on we looked at the line running towards the village and decided a few of our trees were a bit close..... Sooo.....we waited for a calm evening, and then DW pulled on the rope while I sawed, and in about 20 minutes the job was done.

And we didn't get 11 000 volts through us. :)

It was about 2 months later that Western Power Distribution asked if they could enter our land to do "essential pruning work." :o

Never mind, we cheered-up when their cheque arrived for the wayleave. No one had told us about that either! :D

The wooden pole that carries the cable is in our back garden. We have never had a cheque. However they have in recent years been in a fixed a durable yellow plastic sign to the pole warning us not to climb it. We have lived here 17 years and never been tempted.

On a similar note I bought a dress few weeks ago that is made of hemp. The label attached warns me not to attempt to smoke it.

Are you insured? Can you climb trees?

It does seem a shame to waste the wood. I'm now thinking it would be silly to pay the tree guy money to take the wood away, when freegle or the like would probably get rid of it free. But would people be prepared to carry wood 200 foot up the garden to get free supplies?

I’m insured for £10m Public Liability and £5m Professional Indemnity, with my car insured for £5m PL, but I don’t know if that extends from the recording studio to tree cutting, and yes I can climb trees.

I’d bring a trailer, leaving no wood for anyone to carry up the garden, if the towing ratios on my car would allow.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Although today has been quite emotional...which is quite surprising as it all relates to sofas.

I have been p*wned, double p*wned and dep*wned all in the space of about 12 hours. I think I need a lie down.

    Nah.

My sister has a list she makes as my mum buys stuff, date purchased, where, why she feels she has a bigger claim on it than be and approximate value for her insurance claims. ;)

My mum roughly assigns the stuff as she buys it, so there will be no rows, but ultimately my sister wants anything of value.

She can have it all. I want to choose stuff with dh and we have junk from his family and stuff we have chosen, which is how i would prefer it. Besides, we have a lovely painting of half an orange, who could want more, eh?:D

My sister owns mums house, with contracts for ‘half of the value of the property to be given to CK’, mainly as it’s a £400k house, and the obvious tax reasons that would arise from this. If it can be circumvented, then why not?

She’s only 55, but is starting to bung money in accounts in our names, and I can only assume the same will happen if there’s anything left of the mortgage when she retires (NHS lump sum, and she owes my sister £216k, as it’s on a BTL mortgage, but not commercial.)

Got stopped by Met Police on my way into the office tonight (I’ve just got in), as my car has been zooming round London ‘between 9pm and 6am’ for the last 3 nights. This would be correct, as we’re on studio turnovers and my car is “CK (Europe) Ltd’s” taxi (not real company name)

Its nothing to do with tax avoidance in my family its just greed and sinling rivalry. Only, it only matters if i make it matter, and i don't. There is some stuff i like, but not more than i want an easy life.

As for inheritance, i hope there is no money, i would like my parents to spend it all on themselves. They have worked hard for what they have, making very many sacrifices for us, and if one moves in here they will put a bathroom in. Thats a huge bonus for us. I would really rather they live each day from now to the end to the full than try and leave something for us. Its only something else to worry about when they die otherwise. :D

DD has just arrived home from taking her cat to the vet for a follow up visit to the vet.

Money is tight for her as she is still studying and works part-time so shelling out £160 for a Bank Holiday appointment and a further £38 today has been a bit of a stretch this week. Enzo (the stray she adopted) however has not been peeing so a professional opinion was needed.

He has not had any further medication, however on the way back from the vet he has just had a really big wee in her car. He is now laying on the dogs bed and she is outside with upholstery cleaner.
    Those are outrageous prices!!

There are places you can take fluffies if you're a bit short. Blue Cross - they sort the fluffies out and you donate what you can afford.

I couldn't afford a pet... that's for sure. Even if I were working full-time, it's far too much commitment for me.
