Q for Lydia,
Solar panel guy been round today. Apparently we can have solar panels on our summer house and shed, so leave the front of the house looking beautifully old.
He reckons the panels made in the UK by Sharp are superior to the ones that come from China and worth paying the extra for. The panels he recommends are about £800 more than cheaper chinese imports and have a 10 year warranty and a performance guarantee of 90% after 10 years and 80% after 20 years. Is that sales talk or sense?
Downside is two half dead trees would need removing and my gardener reckons that would cost about £1500 alone!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We had a proper tree surgeon at our last project and the job was massive. They took down a few big trees, brought their own chipper, spent the whole day and that was £1000.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If the trees are half dead they probably need removing anyway, especially if likely to fall on your house, summer house or neighbours!0

Sharp have a good name in solar panels and would certainly be more expensive than no name china panels. I'd not choose the china ones.
There was a solar forum I found one day which was very good from the trade point of view. I'll see if I can find it...
Edit: I think this was it... Linky0 -

Evening nice peeps. I have a headache so am going to post and go, but I saw something today that I thought you might be interested in. The Economist has an offer on £1 for 12 issues. It's part of a subscription, but AIUI you can cancel after the first 3 months and your money is refunded. Sounds a good deal, but please have a look for yourself as I can't read the small print currently, even with my glasses on.
