    Cheer up. We have rats.

Quite routine for London. We've heard suggestions that you should leave a garden gate open to let the foxes in and have a root around. Supposedly they make short work of them.

I expect this'll turn out to be an urban myth! :o

I cannot see why a fox wouldn't eat a rat if it could catch it? I do not actually know.

Plenty of foxes around here too.
We meet at least a couple on our evening walk and mister pictured above goes completely crazy when he spots them. :)

I don't think they are rare enough to warrant postage and these have hung already, so I wouldn't entrust them to the tender care of Royal Mail now.

In fact, I must do them now! :(

Too bad I can't go and pick them up. :(

They do eat rats, and mice. I even saw one hunting a mouse once.

Would westie dog like to come a mousing wheezy? He looks far too content to need a job:)

A couple of weeks ago dh and i rehung the front door. One of the hinges was going and needed to be reaced. Before our front door was ok, it stayed put so i could effectively leave it on the latch while poerring about. Now it swings perfectily and is secure, but it has a gap all the way round which the breeze whistles through and it keeps banging in stonger gusts of light wind.

Its cold and its noisy. Whats worse is i am a bit of a yelper...you know the kind of person, they leap put of the skin when someone walks into the room and makes a loud noice. So every now and then when the door bangs i emit a little scream. Its a really good thing there is no one to annoy next door.

I want a really good door curtain!

No, but I have a good idea why. There has been a solar storm since yesterday, the strongest in a decade, and a lot of technology has been mildly disturbed by it.

(A solar storm is where the sun sends a lot of radiation towards the earth, it is not dangerous, but it does mean computers don't always work as well as normal.)

Thanks tomterm. If it's something that's only going to happen on rare occasions then I don't need to bother about it. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Why is it only my chest hairs at the top that show have gone grey :(
Once i would have agreed. Howver, i find now...marride to my hirsute little husband, that i often unbutton his shirt one button. No, its the posture that really puts me off most of all, then the unphotogenic shirt.

Was the laptop connected to the internet? Could it have downloaded a windows update and decided to restart? I don't want to worry you but I would have thought leaving a laptop on in the loft might be a fire risk?

Having netbook trouble so pls excuse any typos. Saw in paper that Aurora Borealis may be visible as far south as London on Sunday. Would like to look, but not sure where there is little light pollution. Only place I can think of is Dunstable Downs. Any Herts NP suggestions?
