The last time I've been on TV was sitting in the audience of Uncle Bob's puppet theatre wednesday afternoon on Belgian state TV in the early 70's.0 -
The mirrors are quite a good idea but verging in to WAG territory.
Our old house we had it on the wall over the fireplace and in the front room here too. But now we have got rid of the fireplace and have the tv on the wall in our new kitchen/family room at a more sensible (lower) height (we have also got rid of the fireplace monstrosity).
Advantages of on the wall - kids and babies can't knock it over or finger it and it take up much less space in a small room than a stand.
If you had seen it you would know which nice person it was.I think....0 -

Only quoting because hit the weong button, was aiming for thanks...:o
Agree, the wag thing is a risk. I prefer to think of it as space saving. Among all our junk in the house though, probably wouldn't look too swish.
One of the things we did this weekend was drape a bit of old sun bleached silk across our bed room ceiling over the bed. It doesn't look that great (accept from underneath....looking uo at it it looks like a paler version of the purple quality street chocolate. ). But it sheilds us from the over head light.
Dh and i went to an incredible house over the weekend and had a revelations, which we discussed with doozergirl and h. The house we went to did have central ceiling lights/ chandeliers but....they were none of them electric. It would be a good solution for us to strip out the ugly fake candles and use table lamps and candle light. I think it might be prudent to still wire to the centeal point so if we sell we could sling 'proper' lights up or ur buyers could.0 -

My TV is on a stand. It is 42in plasma, and I'd be worried about putting it on a wall mounted bracket due to its weight - which is >30kgs. In any case, as I'm in rented there's not much option. (There is a TV bracket on the wall, but for a 32 inch LCD TV, so I won't be trying to put it on there!!)
TVs above fireplaces look stupid, I hope someone has one and is now offended.0 -
switching broadband to sky if anyone can give any thoughts?
and soon be switching mobiles as well. hate this time of the year
we've got sky broadband.
it's ok- has never gone down and the speed seems normal.
it only really works in the living room though, the wifi signal doesn't seem to make it elsewhere in the flat. even with all the doors open between the living room and the bedroom you sometimes can't pick up the signal in there.
oh had sky wifi in a shared house a few years back and the wifi signal wasn't great there either. so i reckon the standard sky router might be rubbish. you can probably buy a better one but i wouldn't interfere with the set up personally as it's all greek to me.0 -
Obviously I've been on TV quite a lot, but I'm not aware of any of my work being shown on Monday morning.
I suppose that O Brother Where Art Thou might have been on Sky Movies 6 or something.0 -

Are you serious?! You're setting everyone up for disappointment when they do meet me. I don't think I'm any of those at all, except that one was my maiden name.JonnyBravo wrote: »Went to look at this yesterday and thought of you doozer.

Bet it's right up your alley?
Not large enough for us (the proposed and "existing" house) but a lovely plot.
Yes, totally. I've fallen for houses in Powick before, it seems to have more than it's fair share of broken houses. What worries me about that area is the sheer volume of traffic and the ability of those houses, almost certainly without foundations to withstand the test of time with the constant vibration. I don't mind underpinning but it feels a bit grubby and has the dubious flatness of a flood plain.lostinrates wrote: »Dh and i went to an incredible house over the weekend and had a revelations, which we discussed with doozergirl and h. I thought that was such a great idea. It's special and makes it into something that can be done sooner rather than later. I wouldn't even worry about selling on. It was such a lovely, bright room and I don't put ceiling lights on to sell either. Lots of little spots of light are far more interesting to the eye than one brightly lit room. The last time I was in Ikea, I counted 28 separate sources of light in one open plan kitchen lounge set up. It looked great.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As for tvs, i just think they look a bit grim in all but very modern settings.
I quite like these. http://www.magicmirrortv.co.uk/products/
those mirrors look suspiciously like someone has just photoshopped a TV screenshot over the top of a picture of a mirror.0
