Fixed (ish) - it was the bit of the 2-way switch but luckily it was the continuation to the second switch so just disconnected this switch at the main switch end and reconfigured that switch to be one way. I think they had not chased the wire in between the two switches but run it in the cavity hence the detector not spotting it but it coming in to play when I had to drill so deep for the tv bracket. Still apart from the hassle and the fact the outside light can now only be switched from one of the back rooms no real harm done. Still I feel majorly knackered, too much hammer drilling is not good for you with my level of fitness
Builders do have my respect.
LIR I hope the fresh perspective has given you some new thoughts - it is very easy to get a single focus and not see other possiblities, a second opinion is good even if it just makes you come back to your first idea.I think....0 -
Apropos of absolutely nothing, I came across this series of photos today. They are totally stunning. Thought I'd post a link as someone else is bound to enjoy. They are of the fog in Dubai:

I can't comment on mobiles/broadband, but I love this time of year. Everything turns from winter gloom to spring hope (mixed with showers, ofc).No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

If you drill 6mm holes first, you can drill them out to 10mm fairly easily. It seems to go much faster than 10mm in one go.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Good luck with sky, friends say it works well when it's up and running but it canbe difficult to get it configures right.
For mobiles I guess it depends what you are looking for, but Tesco phone shops had the best deal for OH, but not on tesco's own network.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Bet it's right up your alley?
Not large enough for us (the proposed and "existing" house) but a lovely plot.0 -
Pooh
Put up a wall bracket for TV. Horrible job ......hard work and scary electrics......)
we've always been too scared to do that.
Also afraid that the wall won't support the TV.
The wall in question is a single skin wall (formally a garage wall) with insulation cladding on the inside then plastered. Don't know how we would calculate if it could support a TV, especially as there is a "proper" roof on that bit now and wonder if adding a TV would be too much strain.
So the TV is on a stand.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. oh. i hope there won't be any problems configuring, we are on o2 at the moment and it's too expensive, I keep forgetting to top-up the o2 phone and use it so rarely! so it's £18 a month and £12.25 on post office phone.
sky will do £12.25 line rental and £10 unlimited broadband (1/2 price for 9 months) and £101 cashback.
Mobile will just try to look for a reasonable sim-only deal. happy with my phone and OH doesn't want an upgrade. Or a good deal and sell the phone, the minimum term is up on 14 May, getting my pac code in a few days!0
