Guys, please forgive me trying to show Dh the lunacy of autocorrect on my keyboard. Typically now it seems to be working brilliantly and will not make any mistakes even though I am trying to show him how crazed and weird it was it is just typing my words as I type them, which is similarly annoying so I am just goi to keep typing till it shows him.
A sort of free thinking typing thing gonna go on below here, because I am running out of things to say about annoyingly unfunky typing.

Um. U, um er er let m e think um a
yummy mussel from its shell, we ate tonight and it was swell,
we yummed it up with bread and wine,
    we ate v well,
    it was divine.
We then said we too full for cheese,
Dh said bed? I said yes please,
but show you first the I pad typing
so you can see I am not hyping,
up how badly it makes me sound,
it's hey got cross, my chums, and frowned,
and told me to turn it off
Because it had gone on enough.
But now it's writing pretty good,
almost like I think it should.
So now Dh thinks I'm a liar
and the iPad is on fire,
    with its super touch control
even now it's on a roll,
and I cannot make it really mess up,
never mind, my time is up.

    Fabulous! :T:T:T:T:T

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    haha :rotfl:

I'm watching Birdsong. Was a little bit worried about watching an adaptation of such a great book, but no one does it like the BBC.

    Happy New Year everyone!!

Happy new Year of the Dragon.

What is the difference between a Chinese dragon and an English (Turkish?) dragon?

Here is a picture of HM Queen getting George to kill one of her dragons.
(Interesting new type dragon not so easily trampled under foot by the horse)

Google seems to think this is a dragon

But I reckon it is a griffin.

There is many a fine watering hole at the sign of the dragon:

Now here is an idea pinched from China:

Have you read his latest? I've not, but OH did and ranted long, loud and hard about how awful it was.

So there you have it, the English dragon is a fearsome winged beast, breathing fire, probably not covered by the hunting with dogs act, though it might now be protected by the countryside and wildlife act 1982.

    By contrast:
Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize potent and auspicious powers, particularly control over water, rainfall, hurricane, and floods. The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck.

I'm currently reading Defending the Guilty by Alex McBride ndg. You've probably heard of it, but if not, its about how the criminal barrister system works in this country. I've found it very interesting as well as scary in places and funny in others (my ideal combo in a book). If you have read it, I wonder what you think of it.

I've not read it, sorry. What is scary about it?

What I find interesting is the new degree subjects. When I worked in media 30 odd years ago nobody had a media studies degree.... It seems strange that a whole industry functioned very well without a qualification which is now ubiquitous.

ISTR reading somewhere that more media studies graduates work for M & S than in any branch of the media.

My sister is a journalist, and she did a fine art course, then a primary school teacher-training degree.

Yes, but you haven't done it for long enough to be annoying, so it's still at the impressive stage. ;)

It seems a strange time to be changing to a system whereby people need to be students for a lot more years in order to qualify, given that we already have a problem with funding them for the years they do already.

Perhaps they can make it up at the other end of their lives by working until 75 ?;)
