Would you even be able to get insurance in America?
The American system at its best can do amazing things, but having dealt with insurers on simple matters like cars, I'm not sure i would want to have to deal with trying to claim the money off them when I had a life threatening illness... on the basis that the boogers might simply delay agreeing expenses until I keeled over and died
To be honest, it all depends on how good the insurance company is, and you would only ever find that out after you made a claim. (And I admit, I am biased: I have a genetic disorder called Factor V Leiden which means I am at higher risk of DVT's and pulmonary embolisms than most. Add to that the fact I have already had these conditions, and other risk factors, and insurance companies would only take me on for a very high payment... so the American system would prevent me being self employed like I am at the moment. I would either have to get a job, or risk having no health cover)
I don't think any health care system is perfect, to be honest.
No. I am pretty uninsurable now. But tbh, private bands for normal would get me treatment there for the minor stuff i cannot here.0 -
Re the fussy eating.....hugh fw on tv now just made two converts of people with their hated foods
. Thats the reason i keep trying with fennel.
Dh btw reminded me he likes eels.
Edit. He does not like pasta bakes. Or meals made out of things like tinned soup. I once tried a combination of these, with a family tough times cupboard recipe, and i thought he was going to cry he was so disappointed in the supper. Still, he gamely tried it, ate it and said thank you at the end, and i promised never to cook it again, to which hos thank you was a little heartier. He is not keen on brains or lungs. However, he likes haggis, with lungs in them.0 -

Fennel is something I should like. I like aniseed / aniseed flavour, but can't really cope with it in a savoury dish. Just doesn't work for me.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Maybe you would like it how i have made it work for me, with orange segmented, then the fennel finely sliced...its fresh, sweet and tart rather than savoury iyswim.0 -

A sermon I was listening to today quoted this clip. It reminded me of this forum.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Guys, please forgive me trying to show Dh the lunacy of autocorrect on my keyboard. Typically now it seems to be working brilliantly and will not make any mistakes even though I am trying to show him how crazed and weird it was it is just typing my words as I type them, which is similarly annoying so I am just goi to keep typing till it shows him.
A sort of free thinking typing thing gonna go on below here, because I am running out of things to say about annoyingly unfunky typing.
Um. U, um er er let m e think um a
yummy mussel from its shell, we ate tonight and it was swell,
we yummed it up with bread and wine,
we ate v well,
it was divine.
We then said we too full for cheese,
Dh said bed? I said yes please,
but show you first the I pad typing
so you can see I am not hyping,
up how badly it makes me sound,
it's hey got cross, my chums, and frowned,
and told me to turn it off
Because it had gone on enough.
But now it's writing pretty good,
almost like I think it should.
So now Dh thinks I'm a liar
and the iPad is on fire,
with its super touch control
even now it's on a roll,
and I cannot make it really mess up,
never mind, my time is up.0
