Nobody in my family has ever been close to needing to make any inheritance tax plans.... nor will we ... and I've never ever known anybody who would need to make any such plans.lostinrates wrote: »Well, there are plus sides.
Less need/moral impetus to make prudent inheritance tax plans for one. No baby sitting teething crying things for another. No example to set, so smoking and living off frozen kebabs, or drinking and letting filthy animals sleep on the bed is no great heinous education for a young impressionable mind. No cbeebies, no bright coloured plastic. Less chance of bunkruptcy.
No baby sitting would be a bonus.
I'd be the exciting aunty for doing those things though. The cool one. Let's face it .... parents are dull aren't they

Who knows what 'll happen to inheritance tax...you house money could be implicated at somepoint if changes are made....
The new rates baby will be born to parents of different nationalities (one of two different ones, so three nation parents)living in a third country who have pretty varied interests. I haven't met the other parent but my sibling in law is pretty interesting. I think it could be a lucky kid with fun parents. If not, maybe it will like dh and me.

I think if everybody in my family died this year and I got all I was due I'd not have to worry about it .... depending in which order people die you get different amounts, so if the BIL goes first then you get most... but if the siblings go then the BIL can end up with a lot of it.lostinrates wrote: »Who knows what 'll happen to inheritance tax...you house money could be implicated at somepoint if changes are made....

I could spreadsheet it ... then google for "easy ways to bump people off to order"
I think if they all went tomorrow, in the right order... so I maxed out on "luck", I'd have enough to be able to stop posting here, buy a small house at the seaside and start having activities and a few small holidays
Without fear the money'd run out.
That's the trouble with money and longevity - you don't know how much you'll need.0 -
I am over the jealousy now. I just needed to indulge for a while before letting it go.
But i think i might buy a pony to finally cheer myself up.0 -
Chocolate's better. You don't have to go out in the rain to exercise it.lostinrates wrote: »I am over the jealousy now. I just needed to indulge for a while before letting it go.

You do, however, have to go out in the rain to exercise after it.0 -
Speaking of chocolate, I've been moaning so much about not being able to find any chocolate orange chunky kit kats, that oh went and found somewhere on line to buy a box of 24 of them, which are now on their way in the post. However, she sent me the link without telling me she had ordered a box, so there are now another 48 winging their way to our front door!
Should last me about 3-4 hours.0
