Hi CKhalvashi - have we seen you on the NPT before? If you're new, then welcome.
I am sitting in my conservatory as I type this. The sun is streaming in, and I love it. This was one of the reasons I bought this house - lots of south facing windows and the south facing conservatory. I'm so glad I've finally got it clear of junk so I can use it for sitting in.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

We’re saving money (seemingly) since we’ve been doing Morrisons on a Weds morning instead of Tescos on a Sunday.
May be something to do with not having the kids with us on that, but about £15 cheaper on a shop, then 15p/l off a tank of diesel (I make sure its on the red line on a Weds) is not too bad. Works out a total of at least £25 off!
I can save money in Morrisons against Tesco, but Asda beats them hands down. But neither of those two do petrol I'm sorry to say.

how do all
I mostly shop at sainsburys and do a bit of a mid week top up eg milk at tesco and that only as I can walk to it. Really not keen on Tescos and mine rarely has bargains in
Use Aldi for their special offers, again as its walking distance and its next door to Tesco! We had a good co-op but it closed down in November and I miss it.
No morrisons, asda or lidl anywhere near.. probably why tescos rarely have bargains..
Planted a couple of apple trees today and wondering if I can fit in a plum tree, need to see how tall they grow first.
Been a cracking day here in Suffolk, went down town on my bike as the local constabulary were postcode marking cycles, as it turned out, the very nice young CSO gave me a pen and a sticker and you have to do it yourself! Last time they punched it on my frame but not anymore:(
The NZ ref for the england v wales rugby game is rather delish.....:D wouldn't turf him out of my bed... england 12 v wales 6SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)

I'm watching Birdsong. Was a little bit worried about watching an adaptation of such a great book, but no one does it like the BBC.
I fell asleep in front of the box one night recently and woke up a few minutes into "Birdsong" - OK it had someone practising their semaphore in the bottom left corner - but I thought it was brilliantly done
All smouldering suppressed Edwardian passion, with flawed characters, not cardboard cut outs.
I had to make a date with this week's second half.
Now perhaps this was something to do with having explored Arras, visited Vimmy Ridge (appropriately in the rain), watched an archaeology programme where they dug up a very similar tunnel complete with the air pump as demonstrated in "Birdsong" and then this Autumn visiting the "Wipers" area of Belgium, including "Toc H" at Poperinghe. The padre in the programme was definitely modelled on (Tubby) Clayton, who ran "Talbot House".
Such attention to detail by the BBC.
Now here is the question - would I enjoy reading the book?
Having read the book I was disappointed to see the film of "Catch 22" [I can imagine what a lump of shrapnel does once it has got inside a flack jacket]
At the age of 15, I was forced to read "Mansfield Park" (Jane Austen) for GCSE. The teachers failed to explain what it was really all about and I certainly did not have the experience of life to work it out for myself
.
My only conclusion was "What is this silly woman twittering on about at a time when the country was locked into a war with Napoleon".
So would the book be a disappointment0 -

We've only got one tree (a plum tree) and it's between 15-20 feet tall (and not growing much). Had one three houses ago, reached a bit over 20 feet I think.
Our yucca's catching up with it fast but that's not a proper tree IIRC.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Zag - Я работаю в Кройдоне, поэтому время от времени использовать массивный "Tesco" там.
I live in Hertfordshire, but work in Croydon, is a rough enough translation for that 💙💛 💔0 -

Now here is the question
I'd be disappointed if you didn't enjoy the book. I've read it at least twice, it's incredibly evocative and if anything, the adaption didn't feel as grimy as the book. I've never experienced anything else that gave me a sense of what it would have been like in the trenches.
I'm off to Stoke tonight, so that may change...Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
