Are any of the NP experts in insurance broking anti-financial crime systems and controls? I need a crash course, (and about 10 years of practical experience wouldn't hurt either).

    No? Dammit.

Oh well - at least we lasted longer at AAA than the French ;)

Seems to me it was only a matter of time with the deficit not getting any smaller, the economy not growing and Europe flushing itself down the toilet. The only thing which will save our AAA rating from here is sustained growth. Gooooood luck with that!

We should have a "when will Germany get downgraded" predictions contest.

Sigh. No avatars on silvercars computer. :(.

That's your own fault for not having an avatar! The posts on the screen are one of yours and one of sss555s's, I think.

Visiting friend and I have made further progress today. We have:
    1) Bought & fitted new loo seat for family bathroom. The old one was too thick for the geometry of the loo. The lid was fine, but if you raised the seat, the slightly overhanging cistern cover pushed it too far forwards, so its centre of gravity was forward of the hinges and it fell straight back down again - potentially a nasty booby trap for any visiting men trying to use it. (DS was wise to it.) We have replaced it with a much thinner plastic one that stays up fine, so male visitors are now safe.
    2) Bought fixings and put up kids' coat hooks in hall. (The hooks were given to us years ago but there wasn't anywhere suitable to put them up in the old house.)
    3) Bought fixings and put up big mirror over fireplace in living room. (Have had mirror in all houses since DS was a baby but hadn't put it up since moving.)
    4) Bought fixings and put up hooks in kitchen to hang aprons etc on. (Hooks came with us from previous house.)
    5) Defrosted "overflow" freezer and brought it in from the conservatory, and removed the big bin that used to be in the hall where the freezer is now.
    6) Bought 3 x smallish white paper lantern shades, and put one up in hall and one on landing. The third is destined for DD's room. She has chosen some sparkly stick-on things and visiting friend (who happens to be DD's godmother) is going to help her decorate it tomorrow before we put it up.
    7) Bought light fitting for centre of kitchen - but have realised that the bulbs that are included with it are not the ones I want, so I'll have to go back and get the other ones tomorrow.
    8) Tried to go to a lighting shop to choose light fittings for playroom, but found when we got there that it had closed down (although its website gave no indication of this).

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

If you'd asked 19 months ago, I'd have been able to point you to a colleague of mine though!

I'm not going to help you with your scam of the insurance industry unless my cut is large enough to retire to a country with no extradition treaty.

If only. I'm the one who's supposed to be preventing that. Although mind you, inside jobs are always the easiest.

I'm now wondering if I would recognise my DW just from a photo of the back of 1 hand - I am almost certain I wouldn't recognise my own except possibly from the scars. I do think it is unfair that the skin on the back of one's hand probably looks the oldest and that it the bit one sees the most.

How do we move from room layouts to hands?

I'm guessing you looked at my picture and then scrolled to the next one which was my hand from the nail varnish discussion.

And then decided that my hand looked really old.:(

    Thanks....not.

Can we have a Valentine poem from LIR tomorrow, to mark the occassion?

    Champagne, chocolates, flowers
    !All Love's mysterious powers
Written in couplets in red glitter
In a red card, who could be bitter?
    Singletons !might weep !and groan
    About spending the day alone,
While loved up fools might feel the pressure
To buy red tat or feel their love is lesser!
For the want of a red g string!
Or a bit of commercial !bling.

Edit: i am certaon not a single one of those exclMtion marks was intentionally typed.

Or did you want something romantic?

That can't be right. His comment is that the skin on the hands looks older than the skin on the rest of the body. Since he hasn't seen any of your skin apart from your hands, he couldn't have been thinking of you when he made that comparison. So you're OK. :)

I think he saw the pics of your hands, and started thinking about whether what you'd posted was enough to out yourself to anyone who knew you IRL and might recognise your hands, and then started looking at hands he might be supposed to recognise (his own, his DW's) and at that point was struck by the contrast in apparent age.
