  • Hehe, I said it might be contentious and I guess it was.
I did apologise in advance though ;)

I just found it ironically funny that the OP thread said that if you want to have a chat about nothing to do with house prices, the enonomy or moneysaving, then the moneysaving House Prices and the Economy forum is the place to do it.

I'm not that bothered, just feeling a little mischevious after a long day.

I honestly do wish you all a nice day and really am not bothered bout your group having a thread to chit chat.

P.S. Isn't there a discussion arms forum, where you can get a pint as well ;) (being a little mischevious again)

No, not contentious. I'm not upset or offended or defensive. I thought your question was a fair one that deserved an answer. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Yes, we have two fan heaters, borrowed from my parents. But I don't want them left on at all unless they are attended by someone who is awake. It's still very cold, though. Two fan heaters don't make much of a dent, especially with very high ceilings.

Ask on freecycle/freegle and then offer them back on when the problem is fixed?

We have normally offered them and they do go back on after a few weeks when people have sorted their problems. It does depend on the type of area you are in though.

Hopefully it won't be more than a day or two from now :)

When our heating system went base over apex a couple of years ago, we borrowed a plug in rad and a halogen heater from my parents which seemed to do the trick.

We also have quilts on the sofas in the winter so we can snuggle down while watching the telly (we have a vent in the frontroom and the blast of arctic temps coming under the sofas is wicked in the winter). I also have a fleece blanket on top of the quilt and a microwave wheat bag in my bed.....no danger of boiling hot liquid escaping from one of those.

James does the quilt underneath and one on top trick....except he has about 3 quilts underneath and goodness knows how many on top, he feels the cold more than anyone due to his EDS and related complications.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

To be honest there's hardly any debate about house prices and/or the economy outside of this thread. It's just about six people insulting each other constantly. This thread isn't any more off topic than a load of people waffling on about how they have destroyed HPC or some other nonsense. If you want this board to be on topic stop engaging in ridiculous verbal battles with geneer about who used the correct punctuation.

Well, it's always cold here, it was cold all through summer, and we too see our breath in the house. Having a bath can be hilarious,...not helped by the dim light, and the cold room fills with steam, then, horror of all horrors, you have to open the window to dry the room out a bit. Yeuck.

On I use a duvet too, when sedentary, but moving itself. Gets you warmer. Ugly booty style slippers thermals or fleecy pjs under tracksuits and if the worst comes to the worst. Putting a coat on, been you can do pretty much anything. Ironing can mean you get warm enough to strip, as does exercise.

True, but importantly, quite a few of the contributors to this thread have bought & sold IRL since coming here, not just talked about it. ;)

    Talk is cheap. :p

It's amazing, the sudden thirst for education and desire for hard graft that has sprung up chez NDG. Everyone belted out of the door this morning, apart from Muggins, who cops "waiting in for the gas fitter" duty.
