Not sure how a steam cleaner would work on laminate - Zara had a puke last week (she is on antibiotics) while I was out and came back to dented floor .... so not sure about steam on my one...0

I was going to suggest looking on Fleabay for a Dyson - I got one for £30 and it lasted ages!
Would agree if you've no carpet then a Dyson (or similar) shouldn't be needed.
Out of the 2 you've shown, I'd personally go for the Bissell one if you can stretch the extra bit.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

You can't go wrong with a 'Henry,' used by builders and cleaning companies, we bought ours 18 months ago to be strong enough to deal with the dust, dirt, plaster, etc etc, of our house renovation. It's brilliant.
There are 2 power levels, strong and  and all the attachments. There is a cloth bag, which is washable, I tend to use this and when it's in the wash use a paper bag, so it's not that expensive for replacement bags.
It's just a hoover that does what it is meant to do without any fancy bits to go wrong.0 -
They got 2 of them in the Argos I CAN get to on a bus... will have few pounds this Tuesday so.. will reserve on MOnday to collect in store - hope they still have it then.
None in the other, reasonably easy to get to near me... fingers crossed will still be there and still half price on Tuesday...
Reservation is only valid 24 hours so can not reserve before Monday

I had the cheapy Tesco one which lasted about two years. Although on my carpets I had to get a good workout to pull up all the cat hair. Really easy to empty out though and really easy to clean the filter. Two cats here by the way!0

If you could stretch to a Henry I thoroughly recommend them.
Our retired Henry now used for all the disgusting jobs must be 15 years old at least and going strong.
Our new Henry has been used daily to clean a pub for the last 4 years.
Definitely worth paying for and never let you down.0 -
We're currently using a Hoover which was whatever was reduced in Comet when I blew up the last one... this one's survived me accidentally hoovering my hubby's mobile phone charger and it getting tangled, and the assault of two dogs and one cat all whom have shedding fur as their number 1 hobby in life... works pretty nicely on laminate floors in the kitchen too to pick the fur dustbunnies up. It's taken a year or so of abuse so far and still going strong (and the intensive setting on it is fab on carpets - actually makes a cream carpet with 3 black furred pets look clean... apart from the muddy paw prints!).
Wouldn't buy another Vax - was a good hoover but you had to disconnect and reconnect so many hoses to get the nozzle tool going that it drove me completely nuts in the end. My mum swears by a Dyson (but usually delegates the hoovering to someone else), the in-laws say they're good - but don't last the distance - so we didn't go for one in the end.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
We recently got a Vax Pet - think the Power 7 one. £70 in Tesco (half price) and it's 2400w so mega powerful (though you can turn the power down, for laminate we're just using it on low). Coping with the crazy hair shedding from a GSD and GSDx! Bagless, easy to empty. Not had it long enough to vouch for its lifespan but OH did a fair amount of research on it before we'd decided on it, then when we saw it half price we decided to go for it.0

I'd recommend Bissell Hoovers every time. I bought a reconditioned Bissell Pet Hair Eraser and it lasted 8 years without having any repairs etc. Just bought another one before xmas (£50 reconditioned) - you still get 1 yrs warranty - just looked on their website and the reconditioned ones are out of stock at the mo but this changes daily and worth ringing them to see if they have any coming available http://www.bisselldirect.co.uk/reconditioned
and everything is VAT free at the moment so if you entered the code VATFREE at checkout you get 20% offA home is not a home ..... without a dog
