Charityworker wrote: »Well today was a very different day. I went to work today, even on my day off, as I work for a charity and the Mayor of the town came to see what we are doing. The Mayor agreed to fund us from the money he makes from holding his balls. He also owns a printing company and offered to do all of our publicity printing for free. So more funding for the charity means I keep the job for longer!
On the way home I looked in the window of the newsagents and there was a job advertised on a card in the window for someone to do an elderly persons paperwork. I rang it from my mobile right there and then and she asked me to go for an interview straight away. It was only up the road. When I got there I couldn't believe it. She was one of those OCD hoarders like you see on Grimefighters. Every room was stacked high with boxes of rubbish and one of the walls in one of the rooms had a 10 foot high stack of paperwork up against it. Bank statements and bills dating back 10 years. I had to crawl through a hole through a load of rubbish to get to a tiny seating area in the middle room. I reckon it would take a year to sort out just the paperwork. It's an 8 hour a week job so in a way I hope I get it as that's what I need for wtc. I was in a bit of shock when I came out of there.
Looked round all the charity shops looking for things I think I could sell for more than they are asking for.
Did the comps.
Did the surveys.
Had heating on low.

Hi all
Nice to see the thread and some newbies too. I love it here..
Anyway, so far:
- lifted 7p from tidying kids rooms..well it was just lying around! In fact DD2 suggested I have it for the sealed pot bless her..maybe we will get to be a MSE family after all:D
have spent £50 of budget on extra meat for visitors, small shop, hot chocs for DDs and a 2 DVDs, one for them and their friends staying over for a sleepover and one for me and OH ( am hoping they will slope off around 9...wishful thinking probably!) so £50 left towards the £62 for allotment rent. Could be worse i guess. I used Al£I today as I have been threatening and altho it's always hard to tell I am pretty sure it's cheaper. Certainly item by item it seemed good. Not sure I'd buy meat there ( instead opted for my local butchers) but things seemed good. Had a look at the wine but then remembered a box snuggled away in the larder from Xmas so will get through that first!
-Drying washing on racks
-WM on when PV panels were working..thanks to the sun made £1 today!:T and lower leccybill too
-HM lasagne for tea from meal planning. Yum. Batch of mince and root veg devoured by kids, always pleasing! Will bulk out with lentils for spag Bol on Monday as a quick after school meal.
Think that's it. Changed my sig on Friday. Good to clear debts even if it was from savings:o
Will pop in tomorrow. Good to see some Jo Nesbo fans here too...I am now well into those Scandi crime novels!

Morning all!
I can't sleep so ended up getting up at the same time as I do for work. Lots going on at work and I struggling to stop thinking about it - GCSE exams have changed (I'm a science teacher) and other schools have had very poor results (we haven't done them yet) and I'm very worried about how our kids will do. Trying to come up with ways to help them through it - not easy with apathetic 15 year olds!
So to do today...- Write 4 yr 11 lessons done
- Write 6 yr 10 lessons done
- Write 2 yr 9 lessons gave up!
- Take dogs to the park when its light done
- All food from stores done
- Maybe pop to Mr T's to buy a top I saw yesterday done
- Stay in tonight done
- Do one load of washing done
Hope veryone else has a good day!January grocery spending - £82.73/ £1200 -

Morning WW.
Well didn't get as much done yesterday as I would have liked. Got to new house, dumped stuff, picked up gas and electric cards and left (it was 16.45 by this time). Went to the dogs with my brother for a couple of hours (he bought my tea for driving) ,then had an early night.
Today I need to:
Buy gas and leccie.
Get heating on in new house, it's baltic.
Buy supplies and get scrubbing and painting.
Only real MSE thing will be shopping for bargins and no unecessaries!
Happy Sunday everyone.0 -
Morning La E. I now have a local Ikea, (used to just live under the M6 from it years ago but now about 15 mins drive). I'll wait till all our stuff is moved in then might just go for a mooch! Have fun!0

good luck with all the work that comes with moving Aria! We went hell for leather wehn we moved and had everything unpacked within 3 weeks, but our flat is a new build so there wasn't too much to do. We are now starting to decorate 3 months later! Can you change utilities to dd rather than prepaid cards?DF as at 30/12/16

Morning Determined.
It's a nightmare trying to sort out at the moment to be honest, OH is staying up in Cumbria (looking after dogs and working). I'm back and forward in the Midlands trying to move bits and decorate etc in between stints of work in Cumbria. I'll start properly looking for a job down here next week. I know card meters are expensive, LL likes them (think previous tennants had done a runner by the sounds of it) so will have to put up with them for a few months then will look at changing them.0 -

have a nose round here (when you have some time!) I seem to remember an article in the weekly newsletter about the cheapest providers for prepaid cards. Good luck I found it really stressful looking for stuff and a continual "do you know where x is" for a couple of weeks that made me just want to get everything unpacked. Of course we didn't need to decorate so it was easier!DF as at 30/12/16
