Sat 14 and Sun 15 January - what small DFW things will you be doing this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!
Can't believe I'm first here again!
I'm feeling a bit better today, only slight sniffles. Gotta spend the day writing an assignment...zzz NEver mind, at least it (might) stop me from spending!
So, my list for this weekend:
- Swim/sauna/jacuzzi for free at least once - my 3 day pass expires tomorrow done - bliss, and even better when its free!
- Heating on low - can't leave it off, freezing already! ongoing
- Spending on essentials only almost did it, some chocolate accidentally fell into the shopping basket
- Dry clothes on airer mostly - some had to go in dryer though as ran out of space!
- check online banks done
- onepoll, swaggers, bingoport, any other surveys that appear done
- check ebay - still no bids done - one bid but a few watchers so fingers crossed
Have a lovely weekend eveyone - I'll be back later to update!

Morning SC - glad you're feeling a bit better today:D
Would you mind adding the smiley face to the thread title...makes it easier for us to find it:)
I'm writing an assignment today too - I'm up early (by my standards) so I can nip to the uni library...so I should get off here, get dressed and go really;)
I'm not happy as I submitted my Gas+Electric meter readings last night then they sent my new bill - they want to up my direct debit from £72 to £102 a month:eek: I used £260 of g+e in the last 3 months - that's not £102 a month worth...when summer comes I use much less. If they say no that's fine, I'll just look at moving...may be a good Quidco deal, we shall see;)
Ok, here's my list:- check banking
- check onepoll, mysurvey, VO
- meal from plan tonight - just pizzas and garlic bread from freezer
- washing was done early this morning
- washing will go on airer
- Ring E-On:mad:
- heating on low as much as poss
- get my darn essay done
- relax with glass of wine tonight:T
I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks Spendaholic.
Well today is the day I start moving 200miles down the road. Gonna take a full car load down and start cleaning and painting this weekend, have to be back for work on Tuesday afternoon.
Today's list:
Filled car up last night at Mr M (cheapest in town). Will drive cautiously as will be loaded up and it;s a bit icy up north!
WM is on, need to wait for it to finish and will hang on airer (need clean uniform for next week)
Have checked bank 1st job wages have gone in (not brilliant mind).
Will check for surveys.
When I get to new house will go hunting for bargins on paint, cleaning stuff etc.
Fingers crossed new gas and electric cards are sitting on the doorstep waiting for me when I get there. (card meters will have to stay for now, will look into changing them in a couple of months).
Scrub lots!
Will stay with my brother tonight in comfort!
NSDs will be out of the window this weekend but I will limit it all to sensible stuff needed for the new house.
Have a good weekend everyone.0 -
Oh my word, I feel dreadful today. I went out with a friend last night to celebrate her new job and am really paying the price this morning. The kids got me up by half five and I'd only been in bed 4 hours. Coupled with my hangover I feel really bad. Completely self inflicted though so must try and get on. I suspect I may be keeping pharmacies in business with the amount of headache tablets I'll need today though.
Hopefully I will
get a nap later on
washing is in and will go on airer
checked my bank
take the kids to see their grandparents
do my weekly shop between Asd@ and @ldi for good bargains
go to Home B'rgains for some star drops to save a fortune on my cleaning stuff
I've already taken cash out of the bank so I don't overspend
Have dinner at my mams house
Wish me luck people - I need it just to survive todayNinja Saving Turtle0 -
Hi all
Sorry to post and run but have 2 DDs to get to swimming lessons.. Will come back and read everyone's posts later. And just lost a post too..
Main aim of this weekend was to have a budget of £100.. Until OH's payday on Monday. We need a few bits, have unexpected guests over for Sunday lunch, but will just make the meal form the planner stretch. It's a SC so no stress there. We also have allotment rent due.
THEN OH buys £50 of hats..hats I ask you... merino beanie ones.
Jeez, one step forward and another back.
New goal...see how close to £100 I can get....no quite the same but it'll have to do.
Don't think he will do that again..problem he wears them all the time. So loses them too. To be fair wears them to save putting the heating on..but really. £50:(
Hope everyone has a good weekend

Hi
Had a call from the restaurant where I used to work and they want me back on a Saturday night - its my second job - I finished there when I was 33 weeks preggers as I was exhausted! I feel guily about leaving DS as I will be going back to full time job next month too  but we could really do with the money now - 3 kids, a depressed OH, a house to sort and 2 jobs - sounds like a breakdown waiting to happen
I just had a letter from egg saying Im £9 over my limit
[STRIKE]
Need to get lunch stuff for the girls but we are very skint so its lucky I got loads of stuff from approved foods last week - need fruit mainly
[/STRIKE] got a few bits but decided they can have some dried fruit instead
[STRIKE]
loads of stuff ending on ebay today and some tomorrow
[/STRIKE] dissapointing sales only made £25
but expensive items ending in 4 hours so might improve
need to get the girls to work on tidying - their [STRIKE]bedrooms[/STRIKE] and the lounge the kitchen needs doing too
lots of washing - will dry on radiators to save tumbling as heating is on
dinner from stores
check onepoll and freebies
have a good day all

Morning all! It's a chilly one here today as well! This weekend I will
- Have the heating off as much as possible. We sit snuggled under blankets in the lounge, and we have a plug in radiator so we can just warm the room we want instead of putting the heating on
- Return my library books
- Have one (hopefully two) NSDs
- Clear the weeds from the garden so I can get the veg beds ready for planting. I'm hoping the frost will go this afternoon or this won't be pleasant!
- Dry the washing on airers. We don't actually have a dryer, but it makes me feel good to remind myself that it's the MSE way!
- Play some board games
- Do some baking, just cakes for lunch boxes
- Do some competitions from the comps board. I did quite well the last time I did comps on a regular basis, so fingers crossed!

Morning guys  thanks for starting us off spendaholic. Can I please ask that you put the smilie in the title bar - it makes it easier to find and its part of the title!
yay its the weekend :j so happy to have a couple of days when I'm not at work. Have been working like a dog to get everything done before my last day on Monday. Really I'm only going to have about 3 hours to do actual work on Monday as am having a coffee morning with the tenants at 11, leaving lunch with my team at 12.30 and then have to drive to another town (about 40 miles away and I can't claim expenses as its past the cut off time for payroll ) for a pointless manager's meeting as I am no longer a manager there!
Worked until 9.30 last night! and have probably about 1 1/2hrs of stuff to do over the weekend. But then my conscience is clear!
Also disappointed in myself as I spent £10 on a chineese to eat in the office while I was working late...
Anyway glad to get that off my chest!

Hello everyone,
Thanks Spendaholic for starting us off, I must admit I nearly did miss the thread though as there was no smiley! Glad you're feeling better.
Pixie - Wow that's a big increase! Just don't take no for an answer
If it were to turn out to be more then you could just pay the difference...but we know that isn't going to happen!
Aria - Hope the move goes well.
Wannabee - Have some bacon & a glass of fizzy whatever! It'll help.
Brizzled - Tell him to stop losing them! If he wants to spend that much that's ok once...but not too regularly. If it were any other expensive item you'd both take care not to lose it right? Same applies here!
DNMS - Can't they give you some money from petty cash for your expenses then? That's not on otherwise...I wouldn't accept it anyway!Today I have/will:-- Make a homemade juice
