:rotfl: You didn't get the answer you wanted - certainly not from the Scots, so you're having another go. :D

    No.

Just gave more poll options to get a more balanced view.

The poll in this thread is balanced imo. The bottom line is that most Scots do not want independence and the longer this 'debate' drags on, even more people will drop out of the Yes camp through voter fatigue and indifference (in the same way as people seem to be tiring of this thread). Why wait until 2014? Lets just get it over with and have the referendum as soon as possible. This will put us all out of our misery and put the SNP back in their place as the majority party of a regional parliament.

The problem with that is you will be asking people to vote on an idea before many of the details have been worked out. Although both sides will produce scare stories basic information that affects everyday living does need some thought and it has been given precious little so far.

Here's me thinking the SNP would have worked out the details for an independant Scotland years ago.

You would have thought they would.

Looks like its not just the unionists that never thought that the Scots would be getting a referendum.

Unholyangel. " Oh and as for the education system...while I can't speak for Scotland as a whole, education in my area has never been better in the past 20 years".

Due to pressure of work I have not been able to revisit this discussion, but you are either naive or a blatent liar.

I have now taken enhanced severance(my eyes popped out of my head with the deal) because... I was switched to teaching the highest level of another subject with no qualifications to do that. My subject is advanced in something else. I really hope you are not paying a student loan in Scotland for your kids, because many of us who are FE teachers don't know what we are doing anymore.
  • What bemuses me on this issue is the Salmond has convinced 40% of Scots to support it yet no one knows the real implications of what Independence will mean. There is absolutely no guarantee that Scotland will be a member of the EU as was pointed out by the Minister for Europe this week.

I am extremely confused about the "oil money", I thought oil revenue was about £12 Billion this year against £30 Billion subsidy from England or am I wrong ?

Is Salmond going to compensate EDF when he shuts Torness Nuclear Power Station ?

Is Salmond going to take over cleaning up Dounreay ?

These and a myriad of other issues surely need to be addresed.

A lot of the details will involve negotiation once a decision has been reached so they can't be worked out before hand.
