Just because you are related is no reason to stop going for independence. You will not stop being related just because Scotland gains its independece.
There would be a better relationship between Scotland and England if we were both independent, less resentment on both sides.Vote YES to Scottish Independence in 20140 -

You are being silly. Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland are actually quite OK with each other. I do not understand your aggression, but if you want to go on with this, then that is up to you. As you already know, I am Scottish and I love my country and all the people in it. I work in education and trust me, I know what this nasty SNP are doing to us. I do wonder if you are on too much whisky and benefits.0

The people of the countries get on but when you bring politics into it thats when the resentment comes in.
The Scots don't like the fact the English take Scottish Oil and the English think they subsidise the Scots (not true).
I dont know about the educational problems.
I would say ther SNP government is the best Scotland has ever had, an going by last Mays election most agree.
They have done more for the Scots than Labour ever did.Vote YES to Scottish Independence in 20140 -
By your own admission, you do not know what the SNP have done to the education system. As for the "fact" that the English take Scottish Oil, well that is just rubbish. Can you understand in any way that oil is global and OMG even China is involved?0

You're really not helping yourself here. A difference of opinion does not make one person smarter than the other and to imply that it does only brings into question your own intelligence and/or sanity.
Politics is like religion. We are all entitled to choose for ourselves and make our own minds up what we feel is "right". You cannot force your views upon others as their own.
You seem extremely aggressive and agitated by this topic. There's nothing to be agitated about. The nation as a whole will vote whether we stay or whether we go. I'm fine with that. No one person has the power or the right to decide. I have my own opinion, of course. But if the nation want something different......I'm not going to act like a child over it.
If we do gain independence, we will either thrive and prosper or we will have to lie in the bed we have made for ourselves (well either that or move).
Oh and as for the education system...while I can't speak for Scotland as a whole, education in my area has never been better in the past 20 years. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Just because it has Scotland in the name means nothing.
You don't have to dig that deep to establish the fact that the Royal Bank of Scotland plc, is a company registered in Scotland no. 90312. As was indeed the Bank of Scotland plc (No SC327000) . Where a company trades or on which stock exchange its shares are traded is stupendously irrelevant in deciding who is responsible for its debt. Iceland had a number of banks that traded all over Europe. Ireland had a number of banks that banks that traded in the UK. You could have bought shares in any of them across the LSE. But when they all went down it wasn't 'England' that was lumbered with the debt.
So in this case, the fact that there was Scotland in the name means everything.0 -
Well, apart from the fact that for every person in England one pound is spent and for every Scot it's two pounds, and that the Scottish uni fees are £3000 per year (subsidised by the English) exclusively only for the Scots, and their prescription charges are free (again subsidised by the English), and our English parliament is festooned with Scots and there's no English in theirs, and the fact that the Scots don't like the English to the point of wishing the English sports teams lose to other countries in world cup tournaments, I can't see what the problem is with them becoming independent. Good luck to them.0

Whatever the eventual decision it does seem odd to me that there is a strong possibility that only the Scots will vote. If the UK is to partially break up then that affects everyone who lives here.
The main resentments on each side seem to boil down to the English thinking the Scots are a financial drain and the Scots thinking the English act like a patronising big brother.
The Barnett formula would seem to suggest that Scotland(along with Wales and N Ireland) are funded, per capita, to a higher degree than regions in England.0
