Anyway voting with my feet anyway. A total shambles
I agree, they are a waste of time, I have had to get a Vodafone sim as my Giffgaff one stopped working, 'number barred', I have spent 3 weeks trying to get it unbarred and have now gave up. The swindlers still owe my £15 of credit as well!0 -
Giffgaff are cheap but customer service is utter rubbish. Indeed when the problem seems to be beyond their capabilities they just ignore it.0
-
It is annoying we have paid £20 to them to get it going and have now asked for our money back but they seem to be ignoring our messages on that.0

Perhaps I should redress the balance by saying that both my son and daughter use GiffGaff to the extremes with text messaging although they are only moderate users of the data connection. I personally however used GiffGaff for two months whilst hospitalised favouring them over my Orange contract connection (with its 500Mb limit) and it was nothing short of fantastic. Indeed, I will be switching to them permanently when my current Orange contract expires.0

can only go on my opinion but i have never had a problem with Giffgaff.
Use a SIm in a old Nokia 7110 just for voice and text....use about a 1000 mins a month and about 700 texts.
Never had a prob...Then again i dont use data or any other service...Just voice and text

I am also with GiffGaff and will be leaving as soon as the give me a PAC.

Now, please don't treat this as a personal dig, but it just goes to show you get what you pay for in this world. If we wind the clock back to the beginning of January and last December, when there was a lot of heat on Orange's price increases, you made a number of posts supporting, and I would say recommending, Giff-Gaff and here we are, less that a month later, with this thread. A week in politics and all that!
This is what happens when we want a premium, reliable, 21st century company, but are only looking to pay peanuts, relatively speaking. Something has got to give. Initially it was off-shore call centres, and now it's reduced Customer Service with a cut price operation.
You have made some valid points about maybe we should stop slagging off the big 4 on this forum and, bonus to you, your previous advice about not getting tied into 2 year contracts has proved its worth as you can escape with 30 days' notice.
So what I want from a network is value, just as in most things. I could eat in Burger King every day and buy all my clothes from Tesco to save money - there is nothing wrong with these two - but I prefer to pay a bit more to get better quality but still value. My choice.
Do let us know which PAYG you decide to move to and your experience in due course.0 -

Hello GD. Any recommendations on this? I notice 3 network for PAYG £15 pcm for 300 mins, 3,000 texts and all you can eat data. I was with 3 a long long time ago but it was very restriced then. Not brilliant coverage and also they internet side was a walled garden, you colul only check things that three produced. Anything on the normal internet was hideously expensive. It is obviously changed.0 -

Value of course is relative some may prefer the Value of BK .
If you have had zero problems from GiffGaff then that's value .But if you re thinking of joining buying eating or wearing you have the opportunity to way up the services and decide if you want to pay a bit more for xx or a bit less .
To me it was no contest GiffGaff as i rarely use customer service and by accounts on this forum they are all poor anyway . But on the other hand i pay more for my internet as i want a more reliable service .But what i dont do is buy a pair of dirt cheap trousers from Tesco and moan when they dont last as long as a pair from a top class manufacturer .

Sorry, but I don't use PAYG. I tell a lie - I PAC'd out my number to ASDA when I moved from one T-Mobile to Vodafone for my ex-company phone. Stayed with ASDA for a couple of months but foiund that my minutes evaporated like snow in the hot sun.
Since then, I moved to sim-only on Voda and have found that to be of great value, but I did commit to a 12 month contract. 600 minutes, loads of texts (3000??) and 500mb data all for £10 per month on renewal.
Tesco seems to have a good PAYG for calls and texts, but their out of bundle data costs ware - or were last time I looked - horrendous, something like £4 per mb.
From what I have read and from friends, Giff Gaff are the cheapest, but if you can't get the service or reception, that isn't a lot of help.0 -
Sorry must agree giffgaff is indeed a load of rubbish. They are even worse than lycamobile. At least lycamobile you can speak to and they hang up on you where as this network they dont reply to your issues sending copy and paste answers that are meaningless. The customer support from agents in my view is a shambles and when anything goes wrong they seem to be unable to resolve difficult problems and blame the customers for it. The thread above is just there style saying they more or less reached deadlock on ports and it was tough. I think they have become really greedy for customers now and have a dont give a dam attitude to its customers. Plus they are not cheap anymore when familymobile, icardmobile, talkmobile, tesco light are all cheaper on standard rates.
The concept is great with gg but customer support is a disgrace with ask the agent and there tech teams are an utter waste of time when things go wrong. I have demanded for the customer service manager to call me recently only to get a reply she could not be more or less bothered. Dont waste any money with these try someone else.0
