  • Hi everyone

Thanks for your thoughts. Any suggestions to improve how we tackle spam are always welcome. On the whole given there are over 27 million posts on the forum at the moment between the spam and report buttons I don't think we're doing too badly.

I know the OP is asking about tackling spam before it happens and we do what we can in that respect, but to answer/clarify a few other points...

Board guides don't receive abuse or spam reports.
Also, remember they can only remove posts on the boards they're board guides on, not the entire forum.

    Andrea :)
Could you do with a Money Makeover?

My comments were more towards the 'big 4' Andrea, ie. you and your other 3 'main' staff. I wouldnt expect board guides to be responsible for any of the above issues regarding SPAM. I would however assume that you get paid for this job and between the 4 of you, there are things that should be put in place to fight SPAM. I don't think simply allowing volunteers to be board guides has any bearing on this as all they do is literally 'guide boards' you need to be more pro active and get stuck in yourself rather than simply pass over the baton to board guides. This is not their job. (especially as they are doing this for nothing)

SPAM wise, it doesn't bother me whatsoever as I rarely see SPAM on here but as clearly it appears to be an issue for some people (maybe in sections I don't view often) then it clearly needs to be addresses. For a forum as big and popular as this one, it is a bit embarrassing to see the lack of processes to fight SPAM.

Have a word with save0811 as they know how to help.
  • but you need bulletin board software than can do what you're suggesting.

With bulletin board software, there all designed so they can be expanded by adding additional features.

Knocking up the modification that was posted in this thread would be pretty easy for someone to code.
