  • Hi there,

I was recently successful in claiming nearly £6000 in charges from First Direct....its now time to start on the credid cards!!! I had a tesco credit card and have just written to them with the SAR. Could anyone tell me how long it took to get the statements back?? There is about 10 days until the 40 days are up for me but just wondering how long it took anyone else???

  • Hi there.

I'm currently attemptin to claim back charges from Tesco Credit Card (Tesco Personal Finance).

I sent them the initial letter requesting details of charges / statements up to 6 yrs old. They have provided my with my statements, but the statements don't show charges made when I have been over my credit limit (I have been over on many occassions until the card was paid off in full a yr ago) it just shows the interest on the account every month. I dont know what I should claim back and how to go about it? Should I be writing back to them asking for a more accurate breakdown of what the charges were or can I claim back a percentage of the interest? Help !! I don't know what to do.
    Thank you !
  • Hi

I have asked Tesco Credit Card for a £340 refund of charges. Within a week of sending the letter i have received an offer of £86. This is basically the difference between the charges of £15 and £20, and the current charge of £12. Has anyone else got to this stage with Tesco? Should I take the money or hold out for the full amount. Suggestions, and advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    the good ol boy

    Hi
Sent the first letter to Tesco CC and received a reply Tesco late payment and over limit fees were £20 . In view of the office of fair traidng's legal position on c/c default charges, the late payment and over limit fees for c/c has been lowered to £12 with effect from 28 june 06.
I am unable to offer a refund of the £12 as this is in line with the oft's ruling.
It also states that you may consider this letter the bank's final response!!
    Help now what
Do I send a second letter giving them 14 days to start court proceedings!
I am claiming the £12 for late payment and a further £16.88 interest that was applied for not payment the payment!!!

Sorry Jayne I just noticed your post while I was looking for this thread tonight.

The bit in the post quoted that I've bolded appears to be the charge made for over limit so if there are none of these mentioned on your statements I assume these have been added into the interest shown on those months, if you see what I mean?

Have a read back through your statements and see if you can work out which months you were over limit and see if the interest charges were particularly high on those months.

If you are wrong in any of the months you can be sure that Tesco will check your claim and disallow any charges they think are wrong.

    hi,

i got a quick reply (within 2 weeks) by doing the 2nd letter first with the charges i had on statements i could find. stating i would be making a further claim when i had recieved further statements. the reply included a spreadsheet with all charges going back 6 years. saved a lot of time waiting for statements which still havnt arrived !!

i sent the third letter with the updated figures and revised list of chrges.

probably still have to go to court but made it a lot quicker.

I sent the first letter to Tesco Credit card requesting 6 years worth of transactions on my account. I have recieved their response back but it is not a printout of my transactions on the card, it is just a summary of charges which have been applied to my account.

All the charges are shown as £12, is this the correct response from credit card compaines or is Tesco trying to wriggle out of giving me money back. I am sure that I have been charged £30 in the past.

Am i within my rights to write back and ask for a full list of transactions on my account, also will I have to resend another cheque for £10.
