I know the bank charges stuff, but what are you claiming for on TPF? I have their CC and have recently been charged a few £2.50 for gambling transactions. Could I claim this back?0

I claimed for when I'd been late with payments.0

Hi
Sent the first letter to Tesco CC and received a reply Tesco late payment and over limit fees were £20 . In view of the office of fair traidng's legal position on c/c default charges, the late payment and over limit fees for c/c has been lowered to £12 with effect from 28 june 06.
I am unable to offer a refund of the £12 as this is in line with the oft's ruling.
It also states that you may consider this letter the bank's final response!!
Help now what
Do I send a second letter giving them 14 days to start court proceedings!
I am claiming the £12 for late payment and a further £16.88 interest that was applied for not payment the payment!!!0 -

This is a common response but the OFT's 'legal position' is only an opinion. You can continue and send the LBA. Good luck0 -
Brilliant thank you for such a quick response.
Have already typed the letter and going down to the p.o today
Feeling very nervous of saying will start court proceeding though!
I hope they don't close the account as we like the clubcard deals!!
Will let you know outcome

As above. This is the usual first response. However, even the OFT didn't say that their £12 figure was fair, or an accurate cost for automatically administering late payments. The concensus of opinion is that this is somewhere between £2 and £3. Just remember that the last thing the banks and credit card providers want is to have to advise the exact figure under oath and in a public court. They will try every trick in the book to confuse, delay, and bully in order to try and make you give up.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Hi do you think they will close the account after this payment as I have heard this being discussed with other companies?0
-
There is a chance they could do this, so Martin advises opening a "parachute" account to cover you just in case they do.0
-
Isn't it odd how they pay some and not others? They paid the majority of mine without quibble, and I was so pleased, I accepted it rather than fight for the other £30.0

Hi, I just posted on the RBS thread, as the Tesco Visa card is run by RBS - I have just started MCOL vs RBS over my tesco visa card charges, as they said an emphatic no to any refund. I am claiming £240 + interest. They have acknowledged service immediately!
Will keep you posted on what happens.....0
