Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 13th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Good Luck JulieG
It's still very interesting at work, a third of staff have have not/will not collect their access cards for the copiers & are having the screaming abdabs because they can't get any copying. I still only have one card so can only work one machine at a time, overnight I've gone from being everybody's best friend to being the most hated person in the school, lol.
Hubby's on lates tonight & all next week, so I'll collect him at 9 & he'll just have egg on toast or something similar for his evening meal. I need to do some shopping when I leave work to accommodate this change to the meal plan.
Have a good day everybody.
Hugs Hester

Lamewolf how is everything, do you still have your doggie visitor ??

    Have good days all xx

Hi Hester and all who follow.

Cat is using his catflap a lot now, but still yells for his food:rotfl: Hence he woke me at 5.45:eek: Just need to teach him how to open a pouch of food now!:rotfl:

Got 5 portions of hot chicken reduced to £1.70 in Asda yesterday/ Had two with pots and veg for my dinner, then left the other three. Made a ham, leek and chicken filling this morning. Puff pastry defrosted now, so pie for OH and myself tonight.:T
Finally getting to Dorset this weekend to see OH's mum. Were meant to go in December for her 91st birthday, but Norovirus put paid to that.:o Get to see other DGD too. Haven't seen her since DD's wedding in August.

DS rang me last night. He and fiancee have secured a house, so he will be moving in next week. Currently living with her mum, so that will be nice. Wish I could see him more, but 600 miles is a long way to travel :o

Had a really good quote for my windows yesterday. They are double glazed, but old, and not working properly now, so will bite the bullet and get them done. Makes sense financially really.

Anyway, have a great day all!

Why is it always Fridays that my energy seems to go through the roof? Oh well, lets use what I have! Today I am going to concentrate on the bedrooms and the bathroom. So I will sort through the bedrooms and store things so that tomorrow when OH & I move furniture I can stack the stored items cleanly. I didn't want to get to the stage where we have wall to wall cupboards with things stored in boxes, but it seems to be the only option left to me to help cope with DS1.

School disco this evening to survive - as long as I'm not selling toys that shouldn't be too hard. Hope to hear something soon from JG soon - hugs xxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning all, cold but dry here today. Really struggling this morning as my 90 year old Mum who has been in hospital since just before Christmas now has a chest infection and they have to decide today whether to continue treating her or just give palliative care. She has been fading for a while and her quality of life is very poor but it is still very hard to accept she may not be here much longer. She lives 120 miles away so I can't just pop to see her. Two of my sisters and I will go up at the weekend the rest of the family(there are 7 of us) live nearby so she has people there. One of my older brothers is her carer and she has been very well looked after, he is finding it very hard.Hopefully I will be too busy at work to think too much as I won't know anymore until tonight.
Hope JG has a result today and hugs to all those who need them.
Give them hell HH why do people always blame others for their own failings?

    Morning :hello:

Crew of four :j Fancying Jack Sparrow is a must. It proves you're a proper girl pirate.

Mr tru's friend works in warden controlled housing - I think that's what it's called? Where everyone has their own flat but there's a warden on call. There may be a couple of jobs available, she's going to have a word with her boss next week. It's exactly 1.5 miles from my house (just checked on google maps, lol).

My hip has improved a lot, I'm moving around much more now. I'm a bit achy so it's doing me some good. For over a year I haven't really moved much (frozen shoulder then sciatica), compared to what I usually do. It's nice to bend down to pick something up without grabbing hold of something to be able stand back up again. There's been a few occasions where I've actually been stuck :rotfl:

Mr tru is off today so I won't get much done - he seems to be in the way, even when he's in another room :D

Miffy sorry to hear the news of your Mum, what an awful time for you (((Hugs))).
I had a chuckle this morning on the austerity cruise from South Sheilds to Harwich all in for £100 each for 16 hours on board....http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/a-trip-on-a-luxury-cruise-liner-for-just-100-there-must-be-a-catch-6288963.html
As it is our 25th anniversary this year I might push DH into taking me, it will be the nearest that I will ever get to a bit of luxury:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning all

Don't think i posted yesterday. Not much going on around here. Glad it's nearly the weekend.

Will make a start on cleaning the house tonight - will do the bathroom, living room and bedroom. The kitchen will need more work - that can wait for tomorrow.

HH - Are you around tomorrow afternoon?

    JG - good luck :)

Work today, have quiche for my lunch, and dinner will be chicken drumsticks and jacket potatoes, i think. OH is ill so being a grump.

    Have a lovely day all

    Morning All,

Bit the bullet last night and joined SW on my own. Unusual for me I usually join with someone but I am fed up of people dropping out and then I end up not going iykwim. Felt different this time. I really feel very focused and I will get to goal this time, I WILL:j
A thick layer of frost today. DH at home so not much housework today but we have a couple of jobs to do and need to pick up some food shopping. I will be having 2 125ml glasses of wine tonight. 9 sins, I am trying to plan for my danger times:D
Will be going to see the people who are doing our furniture shipping today to decide on a 20 or 40 ft container. Also checked out the flight costs and it looks like end of June beg of July is a good time to go if we can be ready by then.
Anyway off for my weetabix and fruit.
Hope we have some news from JG today,
Have good days all J x

    Morning all,
We enjoyed our evening out last night celebrating DH's birthday but was glad to get home it was so cold, thick fog and frost here today.
Hope there will be news from JG and Roo.
Didn't get the ironing done as DGD's 2 & 3 were a bit of a handful, in a lovely way though. Must go out and change the trousers I bought DH as they are a bit too big, he must have lost some weight as he's been 34" waist but now needs 32", I think it's due to my HM meals well, I'm gonna take the credit. :D
Got some duck breasts defrosting for dinner to go with pots and salad. Feel like having a baking day so I'll rumage to see what I can make.
Not much happening here so I wont bore you any longer than I have.
MONNAGRAM, I still think you're lovely :p. I thought your words about your children were touching.
MIFFY, Sorry to hear about your DMum. ((((hugs))))
