explain the situation to the buyer, and if paid refund the money. Still have to pay FVF. Not much else you can do.

Buyer may be peeved and leave a neg. But could a mutual widthraw

If you can manage to get the buyer to agree to a mutual "transaction not completed" (under the dispute console of "My eBay") you will get your Final Value Fee refunded.

Good Luck! Honesty is the best policy.

I think you are all being a bit harsh here.... although, op, you went through the whole process of photographing, listing it, waiting for auction to end etc..... then decide you don't want to sell!!!! let this be a lesson!! - you can always put in the auction...... 'this item is for sale elsewhere .....etc.....

Just say it has broken..... or in my earlier ebaying days, a little value item, I once pretended it had been sent and when they hadn't received it I said it must have been lost and promptly refunded!! (this was only once a few years ago!!:o )

    I agree with angelcake.

Large businesses pull out of supplying things for all sorts of reasons.

As a buyer I never consider a sale complete until I have the item in my hot sticky little paws and if someone told me a child had changed their mind I certainly wouldn't be too annoyed. Even if they said they'd changed their minds themselves I would probably think they were a bity of a muppet but nothing more.

If you tell the buyer you've sent it make sure the method by which you say you sent does not have tracking information available otherwise they might want to see it. I suppose that would be a bit difficult for an item of that price.

be honest with the purchaser. no point in saying you broke it only to relist it maybe in a months time.

also i wouldnt go round offering them any cash compensation.

give them a full refund, and if they neg you for not selling it, so be it - its not the end of the world...

Only do this if you're 100% sure your buyer is smart enough not to mess this up. If she disagrees when you put the mutual dispute through, you'll lose your fees forever.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • I'd say let this be a lesson to your daughter - may sound harsh but in life you have to stand by your decissions.

I know you have changed your mind, but as it has sold, how would you like a seller pulling out on a sale on you?. By the way, what did you sell?. I think at best you could offer some compo as if it was as much as you say to buy it new I think the seller will go as far as they can to get the item. Or you should of pulled the item if it was not selling for the right price.

    Fully agree with that.
