I think Tesco must have thought us lot are daft. The Price Drop - one week a small packet of mince was £1.20, the next it was £1.10, and recently it was £1.25.
I think they were trying to fool those who shop monthly, those people would not notice weekly changes as much. Also they spend the most, per shop, so are a prime target.
I don't think they took account of the mass communication the internet provides. So even those who only visit Tesco once per month can still be updated daily about prices/offers etc. on sites such as this one. So a lot less people were fooled by the big price drop.0 -
After 27 years as a fairly loyal Tesco shopper, they lost my custom with their appalling arrogant customer services over the last three years (as in total lack of at all levels) and the messing about with prices of basic foodstuffs at the detriment of the customer so this announcement doesnt suprise me at all- they need to go back to their roots and rediscover the ethics that caused them to thrive in the first place as they have totally lost them. I for one would take a great deal of persuasion to now step inside a Tesco store-why would I , when other stores value me more as a customer?0

Did anyone see the tesco boss in news.
I realy dont think they get it.
bbc news said they were not offering the vouchers the others doing
boss said they dident invest enough in uk stores instead focussing on international.
They need to get their basic staples and value lines right down.
imprive their quality of produce and customer service.
interested how they will change and reinvent.
they so tarnished now real tesco backlash.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Used to shop a lot at Tesco. Then Aldi and Lidl came on the scene. Much lower prices, quality every bit as good. Add to that the fact that our local Tesco is an overcrowded, unpleasant hell hole - they've had planning permission to replace it for a couple of years now, but choose to spend their money on new stores abroad instead.
So now the basics come from Aldi or Lidl, and what we can't get there comes from Waitrose. It's a perfect combination - and Tesco gets nothing at all.0 -

I recently went and bought several mexican products as there was a big poster by the department showing all sorts of products. The buy two get one free didn't work so I went to CS. Sour faced woman goes off and comes back and says no its only the things with yellow tickets. I said 'oh...? But there is a poster by it saying it is mexican products?' 'Yes just the ones with yellow tickets'. I ask for a refund and go back. The products on the poster, which I had bought, hadn't got yellow tickets. So no discount but clearly shown on the poster yet even when queried it was denied. This is just one example.
The 'Big Price Drop' was rubbish, all bluff and bluster and no substance.
They really need to pull their socks up because people won't put up with this sort of behaviour any more.
You are so right about their customer service and I believe most of their check-out staff. They seem to go the extra mile to give you bad service, however other supermarkets staff seem to value my custom more!!!0 -

I can only agree with everthing you say, we must be shopping in the same stores.0 -
The pricing is basically wrong, Kidney beans used to be 19p now 24p http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=259270789Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

The price drop was a con, They put prices up weeks before only to being them down a bit thinking they would fool customers. Well it never worked! We used to do all our shopping at tesco now lucky if we do 20-30% of it!Jan Wins: .0

In effect they took all of their customers for fools and we are not
'You can only fool some of the people some of the time 'That should be emblazoned all over their stores to remind them that voting with our feet is what we are all doing and the power of the internet is a lot more powerful than any superstore0 -

I had something similar happen to me. Big sign said "All Barbara Daly make up one third off! - get to the till and no discount off my foundation. So off I went to CS and this ignorant woman said no it's only things with the yellow sticker. So I stood there and argued it out with her - you can't have a big sign saying "all products" and then say actually it's only some of them. She was a real "computer says no" type - so in the end she got the duty manager. He argued the same but I just stood my ground by saying you can't have a sign that says "all products" and then only apply the offer to some of them. In the end I got my discount and the difference thing they do so my foundation ended up being free!
Is it mean to say I laughed when I saw their results yesterday?:rotfl:0
