I stopped shopping at Tesco's when they stops accepting other supermarkets conditional spent vouchers, I now shop at Asda's and it is cheaper for me. It's nice to know that ME not shopping at Tesco's has such a impact!!!0

So I guess this is what tesco really meant by "The big price drop" then?

Does not surprise me.
about 5years ago we used to be regulars at big tesco-superstore format.
wasent close to house but we used to make the trip.
we dont have any tesco expresses very close to our area so rarly go in one unless its garage or city centre.
But then they started knocking down large tescos and building monster extra stores.
We tried a few times but was toon stressful , took ages , couldent find anything.
we do have metro but thats not got the range and pricey.
so think large stores similar size to morrusions is large enough.
we have few non food stores too tesco home.
havent been to new super massive one hubby took one look as tried to fidn kiosk and said no its a nightmare!
sainsburys is our local and even expanded its not too big!
we started to find sainburys cheaper as they extended their basics range over the years
saying that as times got harder and more self serve tills slowly falling out of love with sainsburys..
When I do in tesco metro the price drops and offers on luxury foods yet the value lines raising by 10-20p a week for no reason.
maybe if their essentials line kie bread, ,milk, eggs, coffee was better priced they be better off.
They really pricey for meat so I support local butcher and go aldis.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Perhaps they will think again about believing its customers are fools Their 'big price drop' was a big con as all they did was increase the prices for a few weeks then drop a penny or so off and it was dearer than it was in the beginning IYSWIM.The power of the shopper over the 'marketing men' has been proved .The mammoth superstores hopefully may become less and less as I for one haven't the energy or time to spend walking half a mile around their shops .We don't need 24 different makes of baked bean nor umpteen rows of ready made meals. Most women want food at a price they can afford and no fancy frills just decent food at a reasonable price. We all know that food costs have gone up but Tesco's just recently have been really taking the mickey with their false claims and dodgy price structure.I for one do my utmost to stay away from their shops and I have a 'pricey' Metro two minutes from my house and a super store a mile away.I have found by shopping around and really looking for the best bargains I can make my money go far further than just 'getting it all under one roof' I use Aldi's (when I go to history club as its five minutes from there,)Sainsburys (when I go to put my spare left over cash into a savings account in Hempstead Valley Presinct),my local farm shop or greengrocers if I only want a couple of tomatoes I live alone, so six at a time is more than I want .Local Wilkinsons for toiletries ior cleaning stuff As a last resort and if I can't find it anywhere else I sometimes go to tesco's but I would say about 80% less than I did a year ago. They have got too big and seem to want to squeeze the life out of smaller businesses. So tesco you seem to have got your comeuppance at last and folk are voting with their feet and using their brains and shopping elsewhere0

Well said jackie.
I like to make a list of essentials
quickly scan over offer and reductions
be in and out
lidls takes me about 20-25mins
farmfoods about the same
hubby waits in car with kids
I get all the bits i need.
no long queues
not too busy
tesco just takes ages.
Im amazed at local metro as alwys seems dead they took it over from co-op last year was dead as a co-op wondering if its just location.
In parts of bristol they rioted over a tesco..
i only go if im in the area and usually leave with very little.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

what a suprise not! i knew it would fail because what they did didn't actually drop prices all they did was a week before the prioce drop came in the put prices up by 20p on alot of things and then dropped it down to the price it was before i normally shop at tesco because it's less than half a mile from my house and there are no other supermarkets near my house but now i shop at the sainsbury's in the town where i work and carry all the stuff home on and off the bus than go to tesco. If I make a mistake with something I post I apologize. We are all humans we all make mistakes.

i too am not surprised as others have said it was a con-they put the prices up just before then brought them back to their normal price
other items i have bought recently have gone up whenever i see a price drop sign its on something i never buy anyway the whole thing is a diaster and they should bring back double points inteadWhat goes around-comes around0 -
I hardly shop there now to be honest, only for something special or to look at clothes (not that there's much of a selection at my local 'larger' store ), or if there is a fuel discount offer on. I find it all a bit hit and miss as they are often out of stock on offers as well and then if I'm running out of the thing I'm after I just have to go elsewhere - Waitrose is the next on on to me from that store - and it's more time/fuel lost as well.0
