When my local supermarket was a pricey Somerfield I'd be @ Tesco the majority of the time. (Safeway->Morrisons->Somerfield->Co-Op->Morrisons!)

Now my local is Morrisons I normally shop there 8/10.

Tesco are hardly tempting these days unless they give the £6 off £40, (even the £4 off £40 hardly tempts) catfood or mad toiletries deals etc.

I see Tesco as a bit arrogant / unfriendly / sceptical discounts and pricing errors p*ss me off!
  • I am jolly glad to see their come-uppance. I had a couple of really appalling confrontations with them a year or two back concerning non-existent customer service. One made me so angry and upset I didn't cross their threshold for about 18 months. I only go in now if it suits me and I know in advance that what I am going to buy is the best price in town. Otherwise they, together with their totally useless CS people, can go straight down the pan for all I care. Time to remember that the customer is boss, the customer ultimately pays retail's wages, and right now the customer is taking a holiday.

  • Not being pessimistic, but it was good news to see Tesco`s share price fallen , the blatant price fixing, surly staff, and the oh we are so big arrogance has finally hit home, never got a penny from me at xmas, and only shop there as a last resort, and the offers they pump out are just junk , as warren Buffet says “Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked”...

  • Yes their awful customer service has to play a part in this. I recently went and bought several mexican products as there was a big poster by the department showing all sorts of products. The buy two get one free didn't work so I went to CS. Sour faced woman goes off and comes back and says no its only the things with yellow tickets. I said 'oh...? But there is a poster by it saying it is mexican products?' 'Yes just the ones with yellow tickets'. I ask for a refund and go back. The products on the poster, which I had bought, hadn't got yellow tickets. So no discount but clearly shown on the poster yet even when queried it was denied. This is just one example.

The 'Big Price Drop' was rubbish, all bluff and bluster and no substance.

They really need to pull their socks up because people won't put up with this sort of behaviour any more.
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused

Who is Tesco really appealing to at the moment?

Asda is the cheapest mainstream supermarket.
Sainsburys and Waitrose have the luxury brand associated with them.
Aldi and Lidl appeal to the cheap end of the market.

Although Tesco still have such a huge chunk of the market I don't think they will be overly worried.
  • I think Tesco must have thought us lot are daft. The Price Drop - one week a small packet of mince was £1.20, the next it was £1.10, and recently it was £1.25.

Tesco value baby wipes were 23p and then increased to 46p.

Price Drop my foot, they knocked a few pennies off some stuff and added alot more pennies onto other stuff.

Tesco are too big for their own good, I for one is pleased with the like for like sales data today, maybe they will now give us genuine offers. (won't hold my breath!).

The price drop ads were getting a bit boring.
  • The comments on the original article posted are an interesting read. Employees of Tesco saying how they and the suppliers for Tesco are not treated well by the company. Would not shock me in the slightest if it's true. So glad I don't shop there anymore.
