Im also unclear. Where are the theatre tickets. Did you accidentally wrap them and give them away. Or were they never delivered?

We posted the letter on the 24th December as stated in my opening post
  • I think in my opinion you were right to pay the neighbours, although I personally wouldnt have had £180 spare the day before xmas.......

when they mentioned it - why didn't you ask them why the heck they didn't call round the neighbours which is usually the first thing people do when an item of post is lost.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I'm not sure that the postman was entitled to deliver the letter to your house in any case, they should probably have taken it back to the sorting office - I think they are trying to change the rules so that they can leave parcels with neighbours, but they are only trialling it at the moment

My worst experience was a courier parcel which had lots of handwritten amendments and was urgently needed that day was taken to the wrong house and left with a neighbour of that house - I was told it had been delivered and signed for, so I ended up running up and down my road knocking on doors and trying to find who this lady might be, and only found my parcel when I guessed what the courier's mistake might have been and retrieved it from a very apologetic elderly lady who thought she'd been helpful by taking a parcel for next door.

Something is not adding up here. If the neighbour had contacted the Ebayer and the Ebayer said they have sent them, surely the neighbour or the Ebayer would haved checked online to see if they had been signed for, they may have not been able to read the signature but they would have known they have been signed for. They could have then phoned RM to see which address they delivered too.

Your neighbour and Ebayer is at fault in my opinion. My children (young teenagers) are told not to open the door when I'm upstairs or in the garden to strangers, as I often get RM/couriers asking me to sign for the whole cul de sac, its got the point where I say no to them now, I'm not a holding centre, What happens if something is missing from the box,, or if it is damaged, where would the neighbour look, possibly at the person who took it in for them, not worth it in my opinion.

I would be chasing RM for a answer as to why they did not leave a card next door stating you had the envelope.

where does alchohol come into it?
so what age do you deem someone able to sign for an item?

Its not a straight forward issue.
depending on where you live, you could be part of RMs leave with neighbour trial.
this includes recorded delivery. however the postie should be leaving a card at the recipients address in that scenario

Christmas Hampers with drink do you think its acceptable that a child can sign for something like that
What if a younger child opened it too young to realise its someone elses parcel and thinks its safe to drink i know it probably wont ever happen but it could
I have paid the money so as far as im concerned its over with, all i really want to know the correct procedure a postman should do and i also think if this is the correct procedure more parents need to be aware in case it happens to them

    no they couldn't
seems my posts aren't being read
the RD system doesn't link to addresses
also if the RD item was delivered with a card not a PDA,it may not have updated (at that point)even if the sender/recipient had tracked it.

I think they were complaining to ebay saying that they havnt had tickets etc and must have complained more when they got the tickets on the 24th because he had missed his concert he wanted the money back which is understandable but after ebay giving them tracking number etc and neighbour taking it up with post office it all came to light tickets were sent in plenty enough time
