Been on our DMP for over a year and a half now and I am still getting calls from Halifax about late payments.

Feeling the pain of January blues along with the rest of you. I have applied for seven jobs within my company and think I have a good chance of getting something in a different area as my area is closing down. The thought of not having an income is very very scary.

Hellifax did this with me for ages. I finally got them to change the date after complaining. Worth a try?

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on the job front.

Am trying to smash the Jan blues by updating my signature a couple of days early to give me a little boost.

  • Just thought I'd pop on and say hello!
I'm still waiting to hear back from Stepchange about my DMP, I sent back the paperwork just after Christmas..would it be worth giving them a ring to see how things are going?

I had a letter from FOS about one of my complaints of PPI, I've had a good result and will probably get a repayment soon.. Wasn't soon enough to help me out when I needed it though!!

..at least it's payday next week.. And I'm glad to say I'm not worrying about anything..

    Hi and warm welcome.

Good news on the PPI refund. Are you going to use for an emergency fund? DMPs can be pretty restrictive at times so if you have the opportunity it ould be good to have something hidden away.

Yes by all means call SC to say where your DMP is at. Also you could check the account online, just press the forgot passord and it will take you through security with your registered email address.

They do. These vacancies coming up in other areas are only open to current staff, so there is limited competition and we know some people aren't going for any of the vacancies, which means more jobs to go round. Trying to keep positive about it all and not worry about things before they have even happened but that is easier said than done.

I shall be really glad when this month is over too.

There will be a lot of tightly crossed fingers on this thread for you GUO:)

Me neither - £20 in my purse to last til end of the month

Might have to raid my mum's freezer :o

The first few months are the worst. If it helps I put an emergency stock together in the cupboard and freezer. Leftovers are always frozen, I have emergency milk and bread that I rotate. Beans are a godsend as are jacket pots and pasta sauce.

Almost there, hold in and dont forget to check out the os board.

Be careful you dont burn yourself out. Hope you make every penny work for you. I did mystery shopping at the start but almost killed me!

Before we started this debt free mullarkey, my daughter used to call our house "Mum's shop"!

She once emptied our fridge, freezer and loo roll stash while we were on holiday

Lentils are my secret weapon :D

Anything with mince in, the mince portion is now halved and replaced with lentils. Lamb mince and lentil curry is our new favourite.

  • Thanks for your advice. I will make a complaint via FOS and let you know how it goes. Looks like there are quite a few on here having same issues with Halifax!!
Thought this might be a good topic for Martins next series - the appalling way in which some banks treat customers in debt.
