DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

Evening everyone. All this talk of slow cookers has reminded me to tell you about one of my favourite items in the kitchen which is my steamer. Pile all the veg in and switch on. No pans boiling over and one heat source to cook everything thereby saving money. I can also do fish and rice in it and steaming retains more vitamins than boiling. I am also thinking of resurrecting my pressure cooker and when I get paid am going to invest in a new slow cooker since OH broke the old one!
Funny but as I was using my slow cooker I remembered my steamer sitting in the drawer gathering dust! I think we are still in summer bbq/salad mode and need to switch to winter stew/big dinner mode! Just getting ready to pop my jacket potatoes in now. Trouble is now I want a bigger slow cooker now so that I can do a full chicken in it :rotfl:
On the note of kitchen appliancies, to save money I threw a party at home for my DDs birthday this year and by far the biggest hit was my old fondue set. I metled some chocolate mixed with cream and put marshmallows and strawberries on sticks. It was messy but the kids went crazy over it.:D0 -

I find it quite bizarre that most of us are control freaks on her yet we lost control of our financies
I'd like to say it was that that changed me but I've always been a control freak with everything else :rotfl: I do it to the kids now and often catch other mums scowling at me and giving the kids sympathetic looks! That said, my kids are better behaved than theirs and nobody died from a bit of discipline.0 -
Hi everyone... finally after a crazy month and last minute panic have decided to go with the dmp... spoke to the cccs on Friday and they were so friendly and made me feel a bit calmer about the whole process.
Anyway I need to get all my letters off this week to my creditors....Couple of things I could do with some advice from you if anyone knows.... Is it better to send a postal order or a cheque for the token payment that goes with the letter in the cccs pack ?
Also how do I find the correct addresses to post them too ? Im after Barclays bank , Barclayloan and Barclaycard ekkk and also Santander credit card and Next catalogue. If anyone can point me in right direction that would be great.
Thanks for all your stories it had really helped give me the confidence in going forward x
There are a few things you can do. a) ring them and ask for their payment address b) check on your statements c) wait for them to ask for it (they often send a free envelope too)
There's a d) too. Maybe someone can help me out here but I'm sure there was a link somewhere on here to a list of creditors addresses?
I sent mine to the address on the statements but it ended up being passed around a bit before I eventually found out which department to deal with for dmps. The trick is to keep the letters in a file so that you can refer back to them.0 -

Dear Mrs Grey
You will be back incharge of your finances before you know it... or the red room of pain will be back!

You cant give them what you havent got.
All that will happen is the £207 will be added to whatever you owe them now.
When I started my DMP I got daily phonecalls from HBOS and just told them I was starting a DMP with Payplan, and any questions they speak to Payplan.
After awhile, because I was paying, the calls ended.
Reassure your wife that this is the best (and only course of action open to you) and if Co-op want to charge, let them charge.
The worrying thing for me is that I haven't received any phone calls, the calm before the storm I suspect!0 -

Of course, just have sky, orange and friends provident to do when i get home and the jobs a carrot, and i'll cancel all those on my yorkshire bank account and i can get CCCS to contact them, i have a feeling they are going to be the !!!!!!s in all this as we owe them around 7500k on a credit card and overdraft, although they can kiss my !!! as they played a part in this mess, persuading us to take a current account mortgage when we only wanted a loan for a car, and not explaining properly how it worked, up until that point we'd always managed to save £100 a week and pay for anything we wanted out of thereLBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off :beer:0 -
