As you are just starting out there will be nasty letters - designed to intimidate and scare you into paying. Creditors don't care whether you can eat or pay essential bills. All they are interested in is getting their money, and they know their tactics work. Again in my line of work I have seen people in absolute poverty pay off a loan rather than their rent or sit in the dark and cold with no gas or electric because they are so scared. Don't pay the letters any attention. They are standard and they will stop in a few weeks when your creditors get the message.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Thanks everyone. The support on here is overwhelming after feeling so alone for the last 3 years.LBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.
DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.
Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.0 -
we have just re-started a dmp with CCCS after trying to go it alone, never again!
Anyway first payment was last month, this month predators will not get anything:eek: we have changed bank accounts and everything has gone wrong. HSBC are the only ones who are kicking up a real stink. me and OH have got a few accounts with them and these got passed to Metropolitan (incompetent) and then onto D & G Solicitors (even worse!) and we have had threatening letters for the last 3 months! we just write back everytime with CCCS details and leave it at that. cant be helped. we have got 2 months mortgage arrears and 2 months secured loan arrears due to OH taking a huge drop in monthly wagesalso got gas and electric arrears too.
Trying hard to sort it out, but the b*****s cant have what we aint got, they are gonna havta whistle for it!
I dont like getting the letters, but in a funny way, ive kind of got used to it:rotfl:
Will be re-writing some more snotty letters tommorow!
ps. has anyone got any template letters for CCCS? cant find mine anywhere nowthanks

Hi everyone. I feel as though I've been neglecting you (mainly not sharing my experience so far with the newbies) but it's good to see you're all keeping a tight ship.
My sister dropped the bombshell on my parents that se wants a divorce and they're upset because there are children involved who are currently approaching exams. She's just focussed on living the high life and not considering them. It's all a bit messy (and she won't listen to me). So I'm sorry I haven't posted for a bit.
That said there isn't much to report. Sent my letters off to HSBC & Barclaycard but still waiting for their replies (sent by actual snail mail via the moon I think).
I went back and read up on the slow cooking tips. You inspired me to use the leg of lamb that mum gave me. It's been in the freezer for months because I didn't know how to cook it (I'm purely a poultry meat eater!) and bung it in the slow cooker with a few herbs before I went to work. I cooked perfectly and just fell off the bone. DH has had it in sandwiches and it will keep him in packed lunch for a while. He texted me today to say it's delicious and he feels like a king! I'm going to try jacket potatoes this week too. Up until now I've just made chicken stew and sausage casserole because I thought you needed water to cook. I tried pasta once but it was a bit dry.
On the moneysaving side have managed to spoil the kids this past 2 weeks taking them out on tickets either won, part of feebie deals or reduced on groupon. Just paid for petrol and took packed lunch. I could get used to this.
Keep your chin up peeps, as I told my sister - money isn't everything.0 -
Gald to hear from you Tigsmom !
Your right , money ISNT everything, I would be prefer to be healthy and happy rather than rich, comfortably off would be nice though !.
Mind you I will be DF in the New Year, so I will have some extra pennies to save !. (Though I may be tempted to spend !).0 -
You're allowed to spend when you're debt free Antonic. You deserve it. Just don't get into debt again!
My sister has had everything given to her on a plate, never wanted for anything and it still isn't enough. I however have very little in comparison yet feel truly blessed with my hubby and kids. I would give up everything if as long as I still had them. The rest is just 'things' and you can't take them with you in the end. Health and love is far superior. Life gets much less complicated once you realise this. I don't miss credit and don't pine for things I can't afford. (As long as someone gets me some biscuits and chocolate at Christmas I'll be happy!)0 -

I know the feeling !
My younger brother is 8 years younger than me, and so when he became a teenager both my parents were earning sufficent money to get him all the stuff that me and my older sister never got, because my parents couldnt afford it.
At first I was jealous of him and then thought "If I had been born last that COULD have been me" and so therefore blamed my mum (dad was working abroad) for spoiling him rotten.
I then moved on with my life and never let it bother me.0 -

Ah, that's a good sentiment!
