Hubby opened his mail (I don't like opening mail addressed to him) and its from HSBC demanding we pay back our overdraft (1500) within the next 18 days or they will take action against us through a debt collector or solicitors! I feel physically sick!
I've phoned HSBC but the office is not open and I now have to wait until Monday before I can speak with anyone about the demand.
Has anyone else experienced this with HSBC? I'm sitting here crying my eyes out.
Thanks everyone - this really has been a completely cr**py day :0(
Sorry you are having a bad day, hugs.
We all recall how that feels, like they will lock the door and throw away the key.
Please, calmness. This will not happen. It's just standard process and if they going through this more likely debt will get passed on and so ultimately cost you less in the long run.
When you get time read the back pages you will see this is all routine.
Hope that helps

Thanks HH,
I'll have read through as suggested.

Like HH says, please try not to worry. We had letters just like this off lots of our creditors at the start, they are scary but they are the norm. It's a combination, imo, of the creditor only having a few standard letters and a set process AND the creditor just really wanting to test the water in case you have got more £ available than you've said. Whatever. It honestly doesn't matter in the long run, please don't spoil your whole weekend being scared and stressed. Some day soon you'll look back at this and see it was just all par for the course.

ETA: Do go back through the thread as HH suggests - it really will help you realise this is something everyone goes through x0 -

Sending a big hug to you and some positive thoughts.
They are trying to pressure you into paying in full now, because they know once your DMP is established you are committed to treating all creditors equally and they want their money first.
I would never ring them instead write to them (no need to send rercorded delivery just get a certificate of postage) and remind them your in a DMP and all questions WILL be forwarded to your DMP provider to reply to.
I KNOW its not a nice position to be in, as thats where I was 7 years ago, but as long as you keep paying the DMP they can go & whistle dixie because there isnt much they can do.
Keep calm, write that letter to them and send a copy of your letter (and the Banks Letter) to your DMP provider to keep them informed.0 -
Morning all,
Not really dmp directly related but just wanted to know if anyone else suffers the anxiety I do when watching telly. In particular eastenders and corrie. Every storyline involves money. Whether it be loans, debt or just day to day troubles. When my wife is watching I know she must be thinking about the mess I have made. Most programs come to think of it are based around money.
Have a nice sunday everyone

My advice to you is to acknowledge your feelings when you are watching tv with your wife. Say how you are feeling and ask her if she is feeling the same. I am sort of in the same situation as her, and I know that the times I get angry and blow up are when I think he isn't thinking about my feelings. so acknowledging how I must be feeling would really help me. Good luck, you sound like a good man.x0 -

I never watch the soaps because they are so depressing and full of negativity. I feel I get enough of that in real life especially in my job, so don't need to see it on the telly. Some of the people I work with are so poor it makes me feel very fortunate to have what I have even though we are on a DMP.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

To be perfectly honest I tend to walk the dog when the soaps are on (honest). But I see enough to know every single storyline is based on finances.
Thanks for the kind words houseiseverything. Not sure if I will be able to discuss the telly with the wife though. Still very raw. Am dreading the post tomorrow, I reckon it could be abd week for letters from creditors.

G1W,
I know you are getting stressed about the length of your DMP and as my DMP was of the same length I can fully understand how you feel.
Be upfront with your wife about the letters and then you cant be accused of hiding anything from her.
In my case, although I am single, I discussed my problems with my dad and he supported me all the way through the 7 years of my DMP.
Keep strong and you WILL make it !.0
