The only calls I got were 3 per day (excl Xmas Day) for a year from Halifax. All because they had mixed up my CCCS payment dat and statement date, so they didn't follow each other (or something) so each month they thought I was paying late, so they added a late payment charge. Error went on for 2 1/2 yrs until I finally raised the courage to raise a complaint. I got called by a man who let me babble away along the lines of "It's by debt, but £20 a month charges and 29.9% interest aren't helping" He was v nice, said he'd look into it. Next statement, £2000 refunded and interest down to 11%, credit file with Halifax wiped clean... guess I was lucky.

Moral of the pointless post? Talk to creditors if they're calling, make sure they're only after the money and they're clear what you can afford. Then that's it, no more need to talk to them. I should have done it straight away!

Certainly not a pointless post ben80! One way of dealing with debt is to ignore everything, letters, calls etc. bury your head in the sand - what I used to call the ostrich syndrome. In fact I named my spreadsheet that I put all my finances on 'ostrich' because that is exactly what we used to do - ignore everything. Then you get to the point of no return and you have to face up to the debt or drown. So I completely agree with you, talk to your creditors. They aren't going to go away and once things are sorted out you feel so much better.

Hi all, I am just starting a DMP with PayPlan, I owe just short of £39000. From what I have read so far I am dreading dealing with Lloyds TSB, they sound disorganised and unhelpful.

Do these kind of repayment plans run smoothly once they are established.?

Also I really don't care if I never get credit again, I don't want it. The stress has damaged my health and threatened my relationship.
Generally yes, I would say most people have good experiences. done creditors "can" cause issues and give grief, but others just acceot and get on with things. Best advice, read what everyone else has posted and accept it "could" happen to you but its not 100% going to.

I have just had the most strange conversation with BLS collections. It ref my husbands CC first of all they told me the debt was clear, really didnt know I paid that one. Then they told me that I have not paid them since March and that I owe them 3 months money and I should pay it now!. this was all after they said they could not talk to me as I dont have access to my husbands account details. So after I told the operator that I am going to make a formal complaint about the company he is then the most helpful person ever and I now have a new agreement set up for this account and he is looking for the money which has been paid into their account poss a holding account. I dont like BLS Collections and LLoyds TSB should sort out how they deal with their customers , I know I owe them money but I am trying to pay it. They have got to be the most awful department ever. Rant over thanks for listening , but on the up side everything else seems to be ticking along nicely.

So guess who just called AGAIN. So this time can I speak to husband ? No at work , speak to me I am authorised no your not, yes I am , check security sorry you are . Same conversation as yesterday blah blah blah. I asked him for his name and said is this call about the complait I made yesterday no madam this is about the outstanding balance on your husbands account. At this point I was rude and said this is a boring conversation as I have had this since 30th April 2012 and your company do not listen I then request no more phone calls and everything in writing. So the poor guy got the bad end of me and to sum it all up he found the new agreement of which I replied glad to see your departments talking to each other and he is also sending my OH a chq for £30.00 for the distress it has called.

  • Hi all
Just a quick update from me. When Lloyds agreed my DMP payment for the CC, they put interest down to 5%. When they said I had broken the agreement by not paying on time (they disregarded CCCS's letter and made a start date up) they put it back up to 29.99%. However on getting my statement although it says interest is 29.99% they haven't charged me any.
My statement shows no new transactions or charges. Lets hope they keep it that way!

We have found that Lloyds TSB just do not communicate anything. In almost 5 months on our DMP, the only written communication we have recieved was their acknowledgement letters following the FOS action and both letters were full of nonsense speak

Fingers crossed that the no interest continues :)
