OS Daily Wednesday 11 January

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 11th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Hi there, hope everyone is well... any movement JG?

Only up at this silly time because I have a migraine (which will pass!) and can't sleep. Have put time to good use however. Tumble Dryer on, two loads out on washing line as it seems very mild and a lovely breeze outside atm. Dishwasher emptied and refilled and have finally put the beef silverside in the slow cooker. So we'll have that and ice cream and chocolate sauce for tea tonight. Due to me not opening my car door properly yesterday and trying to get in, I have a very painful eye as my face banged hard against the door - no huge shiner yet, but I'm waiting! Very puffy though and painful. After the boys are in school I shall probably go back to bed and try to get rid of this headache, but there are a few things I want to do today to get the house in a saleable condition.

Caught DS1 climbing up his chest of drawers and leaping from the top of them (4ft) to see how far he could jump. GRRRRRRRR Cue moving furniture this weekend I think. Padded cell would be kinder to him and me! Ah well, maybe someone needs a banana picker. Anyone.....? Are you sure? Love and hugs to all x

  • Morning esmf & all who follow.
Ouch esmf, the eye sound painful
Why is it that as soon as hubby changes jobs & we don't have to get up so early that I can't sleep past 4am, oh well, I've pottered around for a while, started the DW & done some knitting.
It's very busy at work, which I like, I hate being bored. I now have my new machines in & yesterday the card readers were fitted, this means today will be fun as a lot of people couldn't be bothered to collect their access cards & won't be able to do any copying, cue much wailing & gnashing of teeth.
    Have a good day everybody

    Morning all,
Just got some hm pasty out of the freezer for DH's lunch and a hm cottage pie base so I'll just have to make mash & veg for dinner. I still haven't been shopping since 23rd Dec. I send DH to get basics like milk, salad fresh veg etc so that I wont be tempted by the woopsies. I've noticed quite a difference with my bank balance, just as well as DH's van failed the MOT last Saturday. It's at our local mechanic having some welding done and will be re-tested on Friday, fingers crossed.
I'll run the vacume around and change bedding before DGD3 gets here at 9.00, I normally do bedding on Monday but was at the hosp.
Hope it's a good day for all,
ESMF, poor you, hope your eye doesn't swell up too much. Off to have a mooch.
  • Morning Everyone,

Dinner tonight will be left over soup from yesterday, it definitely was not the best soup ive had in my life, but it will do. A friend took me out for lunch today which was great.

Not much OS going on, I cleaned my place up a bit last night, dusted all the surfaces and vacuumed. It just seems that i could vacuum 4 times a day and the place would still be dusty, i honestly do not know where it comes from.

One of my friends got engaged over the weekend, and I am thrilled for them, they are genuinely one of the best couples I know, and she really has found a keeper. I am so excited for her and for the wedding, although I think it will be a year or so off yet. I just hope by then I have found myself a keeper who I will be thinking of sharing my life.

    have a good day everyone
  • Morning all, before and after!

Yesterday I sacked my cleaner (I should have done it months ago) so that's a load off my mind. I'm going to try doing the housework myself using the FLYLady thread on here before I decide whether or not to replace her. The money I save is going into the new bathroom fund. As this fund had to buy me new white appliances towards the end of last year it's looking rather sad and depleted! Today is kitchen and dining room day so I shall be kept busy - the dining room looks like it hasn't been hoovered for a month (grrrr!)

Not doing much else today which is good as I could do with some chill time. Bipolar Girl was in full swing last night (probably because I was really stressed about sacking cleaner and then mega relief that it went tolerably well and was finally done). So my plan is to get to Mass this morning if I can then do my hour of cleaning and then snuggle up with a magazine, a book or (most likely) my knitting.

Hope everyone else has a very moneysaving day!

    Good Morning All

Been busy running around last couple of days so haven't caught up with the thread :( JG cant believe you are still waiting, fingers crossed for you.

Got to pop out first thing this morning to take OH's car for its service, getting a curtesy car so will be coming straight home and locking myself in my office. Everything in there is an awful mess so today I am having a office day, everything else will be ignored.

Dinner tonight will be ham ploughmans, have a menu plan in my head for the rest of the week but will get it down on paper today.

(((hugs))) to anyone who needs one, have a good day.x

    Morning All,
Have DGD today. She was awake at 6.30, and is now having tea and marmite toast for breakfast:T She had a morning at Nursery yesterday. They will take her in May after her second birthday. Apparently she loved it, and told DD to go home!:rotfl:
Will take her to the swing park round the corner later.
Got loads of Heinz soups in my Asda in the whoopsies at 39p a tin the other day, so had a half a tin yesterday, other half for lunch today. Need to lose weight again. Lost two stone last year for DD's wedding, put a stone back on, what with the holiday and Christmas:eek:. Still last January I was 12stone 10lb, now 11stone 4lb. Want to get back to 10 stone 8lb. I'll do it!:T

No housework today, just look after DGD, she needs watching all the time now!
Esmf eye sounds pianful, hope it gets better soon.
    Have a good day all!

    Esmf - ouch sounds painful!

I myself have a very painful left leg. It's been odd for almost a week. There is a lump under the skin on the inside of my calf, and it's tender, red and hot :( It hurts most in morning but is painful all day. I've got a Drs appt Friday morning to get it looked at.

Busy day today, taking work kids to our log cabin for some fun activities, then have uni this afternoon at 3pm. Looking forward to see everyone, but not looking forward to having to use my brain! :rotfl:

OS wise - HM soup for lunch, dinner will be freezer surprise I think. More boxes to pack, and my uni friend is lending me some Ikea blue bags so I can pack my clothes tonight too.

    Have a good day all
