Just logged in to CS jobs site and have found that my application status is currently "Application on hold" :( Does anyone else have this as their status?

Yep, my application for Staffs & Shrops says:

    Applicant Status

    : Application on hold

Thank you for progressing your application.

We are currently reviewing your application and will contact you shortly.

My 2 other applications for B'ham & Solihull and Black Country districts still say 'Situation test Complete'

Confused - is this good or bad, I wonder?:undecided

I have had application on hold for staffs and shrops too. Don't know what this means either. All others still say test completed. Any ideas.

My one application to Staffs and Shropshire says that but the other two show that the situation test was complete and awaiting review - as they have been showing for the past 3 weeks!! It only got changed this afternoon as I checked right after lunch!! This was the first application I submitted.

I'm trying to get through to the recruitment help line but it keeps ringing and the nice lady keeps thanking me for holding :)

Im assuming that looking through the competencies for all those who scored higher than the benchmark 35% is a good thing. Do you really need to be a maths genius to carry out these roles? The competencies I feel will or should deliver a more rounded approach to the candidates that they select for interview, after all from what im led to believe these roles are customer facing advisory roles to the recent surge in youth unemployment i.e the 16-24 year age group. Maybe a few are back office functions but certainly not the majority.

Finally got through to the help line after 15 min of it ringing etc (thank goodness my plan covers 0845 numbers) and the lady told me that the 'application on hold' means that your application is actually going through the sift now i.e. 'being marked' - her screen - when she pulled my application up - said as much. She also said that people should start hearing from the week commencing the 20th Feb if you have passed onto the next stage!!
  • If the last recruitment process is anything to ge by then some of you are in for a very long wait....

I managed to get through on the last in-take of FTA's but it took almost 6 months from application form to actually starting the job. Granted there was a "freeze" on recruitment during that time but still, it can be a long process.

As for the test and competencies, you have to accept they are looked at as a whole by the guys n gals sifting through them. They are looking for overall potential and capabilities. If you are then lucky enough to be invited to the interview stage these will be added to how you do in the actual interview. I think it's a very fair process.....albeit frustrating.
  • Staffs & Shrops was my very last application, made on the very last day.
Perhaps they are quicker than other districts, or have had fewer applicants?

That's interesting, a post a while ago suggested that the first region applied to would mark the competencies then pass the results to other regions, but that can't be the case given what you are seeing. Unfortunately I can't confirm it myself because the status on all 5 of my applications is still 'awaiting review' - I must have picked slow regions!
  • hi
